Railways' 9000 HP loco most powerful single-unit electric engine: Govt

The 9000 horsepower electric locomotive, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dahod, Gujarat, is the most powerful single-unit electric engine ever developed for Indian Railways, the railway ministry said on Tuesday. "Until now, freight locomotives have typically operated at 4500 or 6000 HP capacities. While 12,000 HP engines do exist, they are created by coupling two 6000 HP units," the ministry said in a statement. "In contrast, the Dahod-built locomotive offers a unified, high-powered solution that can haul significantly longer and heavier freight trains with ease," it added. According to the ministry, this leap in capacity means fewer trips are needed for the same volume of goods, resulting in faster turnaround times, reduced congestion and improved freight efficiency. It stated that the increased hauling power of the 9000 HP locomotive offers a solution to one of Indian Railways' biggest challenges: congestion on high-density freight routes. "With fewer locomotives

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 11-year reign will be written in golden letters in history. Speaking at the 150th anniversary of Madhavbagh Laxminarayan temple here, Shah, who spoke in Gujarati, said that those who didn't know the value of "ek chutki sindoor" were informed about it through 'Operation Sindoor'. "Modi has completed 11 years as the prime minister. The son of Gujarat is committed to the nation's development, economic growth and national security. Those who violated the national security have been taught a lesson," he said. PM Modi has made people feel proud to be an Indian and enhanced the value of the Indian passport overseas, the home minister said. Shah said it was due to the strong political will that the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath corridor were constructed during Modi's tenure. He lauded the efforts of trustees in running the Madhavbagh Laxminarayan Temple in the heart of Mumbai. The institution h

End is near for those daring to wipe off sindoor of our sisters: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said Pakistan's only aim is to hate India and think of ways to harm it, while our nation has set goals of removing poverty and bringing about economic development. Addressing a rally in Dahod in Gujarat, the PM hailed Operation Sindoor and said "those daring to wipe off the sindoor of our sisters must know their end is near". Twenty-six men were gunned by terrorists in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22, following which India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, resulting in massive damage to terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. Tearing into Pakistan, the prime minister said, "The country that came into existence after Partition lives on hatred for India. It only wants to harm Bharat. However, India's goals are to remove poverty, bring about economic development and become a developed nation." "Our government's policy is to take development to areas that have remained backward," he added. He also ..
