London mayor's bikini-clad balloon takes flight

A controversial 29-foot bikini-clad giant balloon of London Mayor Sadiq Khan took flight above Parliament Square here on Saturday. Around 3,400 people have donated 58,182 pounds for the balloon stunt, aimed at removing Khan as mayor at the next local election in 2020 over what organisers claim is his poor record on cutting crime in the British capital. The police today said they have registered a case after Delhi University All India Students' Association president Kawalpreet Kaur alleged she was slapped and attacked by ABVP members at the Kirori Mal College. Guj: 2 persons stop Dalit's funeral procession over land row

Dalits of a village in Gujarat's Mehsana district today carried a corpse to the local police station in protest after two persons allegedly stopped the funeral procession, an official said today. However, police said that the incident, which took place in Vav village in Kheralu taluka here, was not one of Dalit discrimination but was connected to land ownership. "The body of Khodidas Rawat, a Dalit, was being taken to the crematorium in the morning today when the funeral procession was stopped by two persons identified as Lala Chaudhary and Petha Chaudhary," said sub inspector T B Vala of Satlasana police station. Two killed in Bihar accident; blockade, arson follow

Two persons were killed when a truck rammed into the rear side of an auto-rickshaw in the district today, following which a mob blocked the road and set fire to two vehicles, including a police jeep. The mishap took place in Khushkibagh locality of this town and two occupants of the autorickshaw died on the spot, Purnea Superintendent of Police Vishal Sharma said. Mumbai man says metropolis has 27,366 potholes and counting

A Mumbai resident has claimed to have collected more than 27,000 photos and videos of potholes as part of his campaign to highlight poor condition of roads in the country's financial capital. Not stopping at that, the man, Navin Lade, wants Mumbai to figure in record books for its poor road condition. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), tasked with maintaining roads, has dismissed Lade's campaign as a "publicity stunt".
