IPL 2024: Police to enquire molestation allegations against Prithvi Shaw

A court here on Wednesday directed police to conduct an enquiry into social media influencer Sapna Gill's complaint of molestation against cricketer Prithvi Shaw in 2023. Metropolitan Magistrate S C Tayde directed the police to submit a report of the enquiry by June 19. The court, however, dismissed Gill's plea seeking action against the police for not registering a First Information Report against Shaw and others on her complaint. Shaw had denied the allegations against him. Gill had alleged that Shaw had molested her at a pub in suburban Andheri. Gill was arrested in February 2023 with some others in connection with an attack on Shaw following an argument over clicking selfies at a suburban hotel. She is currently out on bail. After being granted bail, Gill had approached the Airport police station in Andheri with a complaint against Shaw, his friend Ashish Yadav and others for alleged molestation and outraging modesty. Lucknow Super Giants' pacer Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of this season's Indian Premier League after he failed to recover from his rib injury. The 25-year-old, who last played competitive cricket in August 2023, missed the entire domestic season for Uttar Pradesh but did turn up for Lucknow Super Giants' pre-season training only to be told that he would not play any part in this edition. In-form Chennai Super Kings pacer Mustafizur Rahman is likely to miss the team's next IPL game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday as he has gone back to Bangladesh to complete his visa process for the T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean. CSK have won two of their first three games. They face Sunrisers in Hyderabad on Friday. "He has gone back home to complete visa formalities and will only be back after he gets his passport back.
