Khadi products witnessed sale of Rs 12.02 cr at Maha Kumbh: KVIC chairman

Turnover crosses Rs 1.5 trn, 1 mn jobs created in FY24: KVIC chairman

Khadi and Village Industries' annual turnover crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore for the first time in FY 2023-24 with over 10 lakh new jobs generated during the fiscal, its Chairman Manoj Kumar said on Tuesday. According to provisional figures for 2023-24 released by KVIC, a 315 per cent increase in production and a 400 per cent rise in sales were registered in the last 10 years. New employment generation also witnessed an 81 per cent increase during the decade starting from 2013-14. "For the first time, over 10 lakh new jobs were created and our turnover crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore in 2023-24," Kumar told PTI. Surpassing all previous figures, there has been an increase of almost 400 per cent in sales, nearly 315 per cent in production, and 81 per cent in new employment generation compared to the financial year 2013-14, KVIC stated. The turnover of Khadi and Village Industries has grown by more than three times since the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014. According to the latest figures, the total Khadi sales was Rs 1,081.04 crore in 2013-14, and it has zoomed to Rs 5,942.93 crore in 2022-23, a rise of nearly 450 per cent. The total turnover of Village Industries was Rs 30,073.16 crore in 2013-14. It has grown to Rs 1,28,686.98 crore in 2022-23, marking a rise of 327.91 per cent. The total Khadi and Village Industries (KVI) sales was Rs 31,154.20 crore and has now grown to Rs 1,34,629.91 crore, an overall growth of 332.14 per cent. Since coming to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has constantly promoted the use of khadi and village products, and the rise in their sales is a reflection of the success of the exercise, government sources said.
