Centre to reimburse tomato storage, transport costs for MP farmers

In view of falling tomato prices, the Centre on Wednesday said it will reimburse the storage and transportation cost of tomato in Madhya Pradesh under the market intervention scheme through cooperative NCCF. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the implementation of transportation component of market intervention scheme (MIS) for tomato in the state through NCCF. "NCCF is preparing to start transportation operations from Madhya Pradesh soon," an official statement said. Under this scheme, where there is a price difference of TOP crops (tomato, onion and potato) between producing and consuming states, the operational cost incurred in storage and transportation of crops from producing state to other consuming states will be reimbursed to the central nodal agencies like NAFED and NCCF. This has been done in the interest of farmers of producing states, the statement added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Invest Madhya Pradesh- Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Bhopal on February 24. "An approval has been received confirming PM Modi's visit to the inaugural function of the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the closing function of the two-day event," Chief Minister Mohan Yadav told the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Modi will perform bhoomipujan ceremony of a cancer hospital in Chhatarpur on February 23 and inaugurate the GIS the next day, a state government official said. IAF Mirage fighter jet crashes in MP's Shivpuri, both pilots eject safely

A Mirage-2000 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed in an agriculture field in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district on Thursday afternoon after encountering a system malfunction, said the IAF. Both pilots ejected safely but suffered minor injuries and were being airlifted to Gwalior by a helicopter, officials said. The twin-seater trainer aircraft, which was on a routine sortie, caught fire after crashing at around 2.40 pm, said a Central Air Command spokesperson, adding a snag led to the accident. "A Mirage 2000 aircraft of the IAF crashed near Shivpuri (Gwalior), during a routine training sortie today, after encountering a system malfunction. Both the pilots ejected safely. An enquiry has been ordered by the IAF to ascertain the cause of the accident," the Air Force said in a post on social media platform X. Madhya Pradesh looks to become drone manufacturing hub with new policy

The Madhya Pradesh government has formulated a new drone policy to foster manufacturing of drones in the state as well as encourage their use across sectors like agriculture, logistics, security and governance. The state cabinet in its meeting on Tuesday approved the Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Utilisation Policy 2025, officials said. The policy focuses on promoting drone manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance. It offers incentives such as subsidies and tax incentives to manufacturers, aiming to make Madhya Pradesh a hub for drone production and services. It provides for a 40 per cent capital investment subsidy with a cap of Rs 30 crore for new investments.
