Buoyed by rising demand from sectors like defence, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure, the drone industry is expected to boost the country's manufacturing potential to USD 23 billion by 2030, says a report. Borosil Renewables has filed an application to wind up operations of German subsidiary to sharpen focus on Indian solar glass market with immense potential. In a regulatory filing, Borosil Renewables Ltd said its material step-down subsidiary in Germany, GMB Glasmanufaktur Brandenburg GmbH, has filed an application for the commencement of insolvency proceedings before the Insolvency Court at Cottbus, Germany, in accordance with the German Insolvency Code (InsO). This decision was reached after a comprehensive assessment of market conditions, financial viability, and long-term strategic priorities. "The challenges for GMB began with slide in demand for German made solar panels, when faced with the precipitous drop in prices by Chinese manufacturers of solar panels, who have engaged in large scale dumping in the European market, using predatory pricing. "Despite the alarms sounded by the German solar module manufacturers seeking protection against such dumping, policy responses to da
India's electronics manufacturing sector, which has been struggling with China's restrictions on rare earth magnet exports, faces a double whammy with import curbs on gold compound -- a key raw material. Rare earth magnets have diverse utility ranging from computer chips and electronic components to electric vehicles, wind turbines, and medical equipment. Gold compounds are also widely used in critical electronic components to improve flow of electric current in motherboards, semiconductors etc. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in an order dated June 17 reclassified imports of colloidal precious metals and compounds from "free" to "restricted" category. The development followed restrictions from China on export of rare earth magnets and specialized capital goods. India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) in a letter to the Ministry of Electronics and IT said that the import restriction has brought in uncertainty in the efforts of industry to scale up domesti

Most artificial intelligence systems suffer from the flaw of 'hallucination' and are not meant for India's small enterprises in manufacturing sector, deep-tech company Vexoo Labs has said and claimed its AI solutions are for the "real world". "The focus on factual accuracy is both rare and crucial," said Ajay Kumar, Senior Business Leader, AI Evangelist and a Board Advisor at Vexoo Labs. He said most AI tools today are built for showcase, not for reliability. In the industrial alleys of Rajkot, the looms of Tiruppur, and the machining units of Coimbatore, India's small and mid-sized manufacturers are facing a silent crisis, he noted. "It's not rising input costs or labour shortages alone - it's the growing complexity of data, and the absence of any reliable AI system to help make sense of it," Kumar told PTI on the sidelines of Super AI, a mega exhibition and conference held June 18-19. According to Kumar, despite the global boom in artificial intelligence, "most systems on the .
