The Delhi Metro will run 40 additional trips on weekdays starting October 25, the DMRC said on Tuesday. Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) on Friday said it has bagged a contract worth Rs 350 crore from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). Under the pact, TRSL will design and manufacture 30 standard gauge cars for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II Project. The prototype has to be delivered within 70 weeks from Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and delivery completion will be 94 weeks from the LOA. These metro cars will be manufactured at the company's facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal, a statement said. The Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II Project is being implemented by GMRC at a cost of Rs 13,500 crore. The project will add 28.2 km of metro lines to the city's existing network. The company is a manufacturer of railway wagons and passenger coaches.

Delhi Metro has increased the operational speed of Metro trains on the Airport Express Line to 120 kmph starting Sunday, officials said. The first phase of Odisha's proposed metro rail project will cover a distance of around 26 km and have 20 stations, according to the DPR submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had sanctioned the project on April 1, 2023. The first phase will connect Bhubaneswar Airport and Trishulia in Cuttack. The DMRC submitted the detailed project report (DPR) to Chief Secretary P K Jena on Wednesday, officials said. The DPR was completed after conducting traffic survey, geo-technical investigation, topographic survey, environmental and social impact assessments, they said. The project will be later extended to Khurda, Puri and other areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city, the officials said.
A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly making a hoax call about a bomb planted at Kashmere Gate metro station, police said on Monday. Rahul Gupta, a native of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh, made the call in an inebriated state on Sunday, they said. At 8:22 pm on Sunday, Kashmere Gate metro police station received a call from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) control room that a bomb had been planted at Kashmere Gate metro station, a senior police officer said. An intensive search was carried out but no bomb or suspicious article was found on the metro station premises, they said. The identity of the person who called the CISF control room was established, his personal details were obtained and he was arrested later, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Ram Gopal Naik said. During interrogation, Gupta revealed that he works at a spare parts shop at Church Road, Kashmere Gate and had made the call in an inebriated state to create alarm among the public on the .
Delhi Metro trains are crossing the four Yamuna bridges with a restricted speed of 30 kmph as a precautionary measure due to rising water level of the Yamuna, the DMRC said on Thursday. The swollen river has crossed the danger mark, breaching the all-time record of 1978, flooding low-lying areas near the banks. At 10 am on Thursday, the water level in Yamuna was at 208.53 metres. "Due to rising water levels of the Yamuna, trains are passing through all the four Metro bridges on the river with a restricted speed of 30 kmph as a precautionary measure. The operational speed of the metro trains on the 23-km-long Airport Express Line (AEL) connecting New Delhi to Dwarka Sec-21 via IGI Airport has been increased from 100 KMPH to 110 KMPH from Thursday onwards, the DMRC said. The decision to increase the speed of the trains was taken after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) received the mandatory approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), it said. The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has issued an international tender for procurement of 2,856 coaches of Vande Metro trains for Mumbai's suburban network, officials said. This is part of the ambitious Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), they said. Under Phase-3 and 3A of MUTP projects worth Rs 10,947 crore and Rs 33,690 crore respectively, the bids for procurement of 2,856 coaches - equal to 238 trains of 12 coach composition - have been invited, a senior MRVC official said on Wednesday. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has awarded the DMRC a 10-year contract to operate and maintain its underground Line-3 after the Delhi Metro emerged as the lowest bidder in the tendering process, officials said on Friday.
