Schools in Noida to remain closed on Jan 16-17 due to fog, extreme cold

Schools up to Class 8 across Gautam Buddh Nagar will remain closed on Friday and Saturday due to dense fog and extreme cold, the district administration said on Friday. The order, issued by Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar, said the decision was taken in compliance with the directions of the district magistrate in view of prevailing weather conditions. "All schools from Nursery to Class 8 affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board and other boards operating in Gautam Buddh Nagar district shall remain closed on January 16 and 17," the order said, adding that it must be strictly followed. The basic education officer warned that action would be taken as per rules against any school found violating the order and reopening during the closure period. Earlier, the district education department had extended the winter break for schools in the district till January 15 amid the cold wave conditions.

Noida airport to run on 82.94-acre solar farm, fully electric airside ops

A solar park spread over 82.94 acres with a capacity of 51,966 megawatt-hours and electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities across 20 per cent of the parking area will anchor the green infrastructure of the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, the Uttar Pradesh government said on Monday. According to an official statement, the airport will operate with extensive use of renewable energy and electric mobility, with all vehicles deployed for airside operations to be 100 per cent electric and supported by multiple charging points installed at different locations on the campus. The state government said the Jewar airport is being developed on a net-zero concept in collaboration with Zurich Airport Group and has already achieved the distinction of becoming India's first IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Green Campus-certified airport. According to the statement, the terminal building has been specially designed to ensure minimal consumption of energy, water and resources. YE

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday termed 2026 a decisive year for Uttar Pradesh's technological advancement, saying the state is emerging as a global hub for artificial intelligence and the digital economy. Noida's office market has seen an 18 per cent increase in rentals during the last six years, with the city gradually emerging as an important location for corporates to set up their bases, according to Cushman & Wakefield. Prime locations at Noida in Uttar Pradesh, however, saw an increase of 29 per cent in office rentals. County Group buys 5 acre plot in Noida for ₹475 crore for housing project

Realty firm County Group has bought 5-acre land in Noida through auction for around Rs 475 crore to develop a housing project, sources said. The land, located in Sector 151, Noida, was acquired by the group through auction conducted by the state government, they added. Diesel autos prohibited in Noida, Ghaziabad; phased ban in UP's NCR

Diesel autorickshaws are now banned in Noida and Ghaziabad after the Uttar Pradesh government ordered a phased ban on them across the UP cluster of the National Capital Region (NCR) in a move to curb vehicular emissions, officials said on Saturday. A comprehensive action plan is being rolled out to tackle rising air pollution in districts that are included in the NCR. Baghpat will also enforce a full ban after December 31, 2025. Road dust has been identified as a primary contributor to pollution in the region, with the action plan focusing on road redevelopment, intensified dust suppression and large-scale cleanliness drives, according to a state government release. NCAP directs Delhi, Noida to improve pollution control fund utilisation

A central panel monitoring the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) has directed the municipal corporations of Delhi and Noida, which are lagging in pollution control fund utilisation, to take immediate corrective measures. The decision was taken at the 18th meeting of the Implementation Committee (IC) under NCAP, held on August 21 and chaired by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) chairman, to review and oversee the programme's implementation. The committee said that "all implementing agencies must accelerate fund utilisation, ensuring that it is not below 75 per cent in any city", according to the minutes of the meeting published recently. Launched in 2019, NCAP is India's first national initiative to set clean air targets, aiming for a 40 per cent reduction in particulate pollution by 2026, using 2019-20 as the base year. Vaishnaw inaugurates Optiemus' ₹870 cr tempered glass factory in Noida

Union Electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inaugurated Optiemus Infracom's tempered glass screen protectors factory here with an outlay of Rs 870 crore. Earlier this month, the company launched RhinoTech -- Made-in-India tempered glass screen protectors, which uses glass engineered by US-based Corning. Optiemus Infracom has invested Rs 70 crore in the first phase of the factory with installed capacity of 25 million units per annum, generating direct employment for over 600 people. "Optiemus is the new gem in the fast growing electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country. By the end of this year, production of covered glass from Corning will also commence," Vaishnaw said. Tirupur, Noida, Surat exporters halt production amid high US tariffs: FIEO

Apex exporters body FIEO on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over high US tariffs on Indian goods and said that textiles and apparel manufacturers in Tirupur, Noida, and Surat have halted production amid worsening cost competitiveness due to these steep duties. The US duties on Indian goods will increase to 50 per cent from August 27. Noida woman set on fire by in-laws over ₹36 lakh dowry, husband arrested

A woman was allegedly assaulted, dragged by her hair and set ablaze by her in-laws in front of her sister and son in Greater Noida. Adani group firm Manorview Developers will develop IT and ITes complex of fintech firm One97 Communications, which owns Paytm brand, in Noida, the company said in a regulatory filing.
