Odisha to host G20 sub-committee meet on education, culture, energy next yr

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said three G20 sub-committee meetings on education, energy and culture will be held in Odisha next year. Pradhan was speaking during an anniversary celebration of a regional media house here. The Union Education minister and G20 sub-committee meetings on education, energy and culture will be held in Odisha in April next year. State's Heritage town Konark and Bhubaneswar are likely to be among the venues for 200 such meetings to be held in the run-up to the main summit. On December 1, India assumed the presidency of the G20 forum, taking over from Indonesia.

Union Minister Pawa stresses on patient service referral system

Union Minister Bharati Pravin Pawar on Sunday said there is a need for an organised patient referral service system at various levels of the health care system in Odisha. The Union Minister of state for Health and Family Welfare, who visited AIIMS, Bhubaneswar here, said the daily footfall in the premier hospital is about 10,000 which puts a lot of burden on the facility. Pawar suggested various measures to address the daily huge footfall and patient waiting time for various services. While emphasizing on the need for an organized patient referral service system at various levels of the health care service system, she said in order to build such a type of robust patient referral criterion, there is requirement of a collaborative approach between AIIMS and other state-run health care institutions. Odisha has received an impressive Rs 10.50 lakh crore investment intents at the third edition of the Make In Odisha (MIO), Conclave, 2022, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Saturday. SRAM & MRAM to invest Rs 2 trillion in Odisha, set up semiconductor unit

United Kingdom-based SRAM & MRAM Group vice-chairman Gurujee Kumaran Swami on Saturday announced that the group will invest Rs 2 lakh crore in Odisha to set up semiconductor unit in the state. The announcement was made at the Make in Odisha (MIO) Conclave, 2022 here. Swami and the company's Odisha in-charge Debadutta Singh Deo said the group will invest Rs 30,000 crore in the first phase. Earlier they met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and briefed him on the proposed project. They also discussed in detail about the project with chief secretary SC Mohapatra, Industries secretary Hemant Sharma and other officials. Tata Power announces Rs 6,000 crore capital investment in Odisha

Tata Power CEO and MD Praveer Sinha announced a Rs 6,000 crore capital investment by the company in Odisha. Speaking at the Make in Odisha Conclave here on Thursday, Sinha said the four power discoms of Odisha, where Tata Power has a majority stake, are committed to Rs 6,000 crore capex investment in the next five years. The Odisha government said it has so far received 145 investment proposals worth over Rs 7.26 lakh crore in the current edition of the business summit. The Naveen Patnaik government signed 21 MoUs with various companies on the second day of the 'Make In Odisha' Conclave 2022 on Thursday. Opposition BJP and Congress MLAs on Thursday accused the BJD government in Odisha of 'hiding' the actual COVID death figure. The opposition members made the allegation after a written reply by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallick to a question of BJP MLA Naba Charan Majhi in the assembly. Tata Steel will continue to invest in Odisha, says CEO T V Narendran

Tata Steel which has make investments of over Rs 75,000 crore in Odisha will continue to invest in the state which has 25 per cent of India's total steel making capacity, its MD & CEO T V Narendran said. Narendran made the remarks at the 'Make in Odisha Conclave 2022' in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. "The Tata group of companies, and more specifically Tata Steel, has invested over Rs 75,000 crore in Odisha in the last five years. We will continue to invest to support the growth in Odisha," the official said. Over the last few years in Odisha, Tata Steel has not just built its plant in Kalinganagar, but has also acquired several assets which include Neelachal Ispat plant, he said. SJVN, Grid Corporation of Odisha to form JV for hydro, solar projects

State-run SJVN Ltd on Thursday said its arm SJVN Green Energy and Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) will form a joint venture to develop a 1,000 MW hydro electric project and 2,000 MW solar project entailing an investment of Rs 20,000 crore. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Bhubaneswar for developing hydro and solar projects by incorporating a joint venture company, SJVN said in a statement.
