The decline in COVID-19 cases continued in Telangana on Tuesday with 1,061 new infections being reported. The statewide tally stood at 7,79,971 with the addition of 1,061 cases, a health department bulletin said. The trend of recoveries outnumbering fresh infections also continued with 3,590 people recuperating from the infectious disease. The cumulative number of recoveries till date was 7,54,399, the bulletin said. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases with 274, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy districts with 78 each. The death toll increased to 4,102 with one more fatality. The number of active cases was 21,470, the bulletin said. The case fatality rate in the state was 0.53 per cent. The recovery rate in Telangana was 96.72 per cent. Rajasthan on Tuesday reported 3,479 fresh COVID-19 cases and 16 more deaths due to the viral disease, according to health department data. Jaipur reported 1,140 fresh cases, Jodhpur 300, Udaipur 221, Ganganagar 174, Alwar 120, Kota 119 and Bhilwara 112, the data showed. Of the latest deaths, four were reported from Jaipur; two each from Bikaner and Jodhpur; and one each from Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Sikar and Sirohi. So far, 9,407 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Rajasthan, the data stated. As many as 7,354 more people recovered from COVID-19 in the state. Currently, 37,278 patients are undergoing treatment for the disease, it said.
West Bengal on Tuesday reported 736 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the tally to 20,07,249, the health department said in its bulletin. Thirty-two more people died of the infection including nine in Paschim Bardhaman, five in the city and four in North 24 Parganas which raised the toll to 20,884, the bulletin said At least 1,559 people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 19,70,356 . The discharge rate stood at 98.16 per cent and the fatality rate at 1.04 per cent. The positivity rate slipped from 2.59 per cent on Monday to 1.87 per cent, the bulletin said. Bengal currently has 16,009 active cases 855 less than the previous day. As many as 2,35,50,222 samples have been tested in the state, including 39,347 in the past 24 hours, the bulletin added.

Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded 158 new COVID-19 cases, 86 more than the previous day, with the tally mounting to 92,521, a health department official said. The death toll rose to 1,552 as four more people succumbed to the disease, he said. Karnataka on Tuesday reported 4,452 new cases and 51 fatalities, taking the tally to 39,06,761 and toll to 39,447. There were 19,067 discharges today, pushing the total number of recoveries to 37,94,866, a health bulletin said. Of the new cases, 2,139 were from Bengaluru Urban that saw 8,604 people being discharged and 17 virus-related deaths. The total number of active cases across the state is now 72,414. While the positivity rate for the day stood at 5.01 per cent, the case fatality rate (CFR) was 1.14 per cent. Of the 51 deaths, 17 are from Bengaluru Urban, Dakshina Kannada (7), Kolar and Tumakuru (4), Ballari and Mysuru (3), Chitradurga, Dharwad and Udupi (2), followed by others. After Bengaluru Urban, Belagavi recorded the second highest number of cases with 352, Mysuru 222, Tumakuru 221, Dakshina Kannada 146, Shivamogga 122, Hassan 103 and Dharwad 102.
