Cama plans new hotel in Gandhinagar

Cama Hotels Ltd, owners of the 45-year-old Cama Hotel in Ahmedabad and Cama Rajputana Club Resort in Mount Abu in Rajasthan, plans a new hotel in Gandhinagar.
 
With various domestic and international airlines planning to commence operations from Ahmedabad, the company is also eyeing the in flight catering business.
 
"We already have a land in Gandhinagar and we are planning to develop it with strategic partnership. But nothing has been finalised yet. We are also in talks with a few of the airlines companies for in flight catering business," said Jehangir Cama, chairman and managing director, Cama Hotels.
 
The new hotel is expected to have over 100 rooms and each room would cost the company around Rs 70-80 lakh.
 
The Cama Hotels enjoys a 75:25 ratio between the domestic and international occupancy. Jehangir Cama was rather miffed about the about tourism sector in Gujarat.
 
"There is no proper tourism policy in state. The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) is dead. The state government should give land than coming up with incentive packages. Prohibition policy is another hinderance in the tourism sector. One cannot expect, people coming from the US, who is adapted to a particular lifestyle, will change his habits to come to Gujarat" he fumed.
