Panipat Dyeing Units To Be Shifted

The Centre has sanctioned a Rs 20 crore assistance for the languishing textile industry of Panipat to augment infrastructure.
The fund will be used to facilitate planned expansion of the existing and the potential textile units.
The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) is also planning to relocating dyeing units from the non-conforming zone. It is developing over 494 plots to accommodate dyeing and finishing units, Huda officials say.

To promote the handloom sector in Panipat, the government has formulated a Rs 90 crore plan.
Under the plan, se-werage disposal, effluent treatment plant will be augmented and 577 acres of land will be acquired for new units. It was also discussed with the Union textile secretary, recently.
There are 30,000 handlooms, 40,000 pitlooms, 25,000 powerlooms, 120 shuttless looms, and 150 carpet manufacturing units in Panipat.
There are also 550 dyeing units, 235 finishing units, 550 shoddy woollen yarn spinning units and 180 open and cotton spinning units.
Panipat exports Rs 1,200 crore worth of durries, mats, table covers, bed sheets, curtains, carpets, home furnishing and floor coverings goods, to Germany, Canada, Japan, the US and Australia.
12 core sector plans okayed
The Haryana government has decided to invest Rs 36 crore in 12 infrastructure projects to boost the exports.
This was announced at the state-level export promotion committee meeting chaired by A N Mathur, chief secretary.
According to an industry department official, projects of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and the Urban Development Department were approved at the meeting.
The Centre had sanctioned Rs 6 crore to the state under the infrastructure development for exports scheme.
He said the government would organise a vendor development programme-cum-industrial exhibition (VDP Expo 2003) at Yamunanagar to motivate entrepreneurs to identify items which could be produced by the small-scale sector units for the Railways.
He said of the 80 stalls, to be set up at the exhibition, 40 would be allotted to the Railways. The rest would be allocated to local industrial units. The industry department, Sidbi and NSIC would also put up their stalls.
Two seminars on environment protection and energy conservation would also be organised during the exhibition.
Entrepreneurs from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to participate.
