Gur up on paucity of stocks, brisk demand

Gur prices flared up by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today following heavy buying by stockist and retailers amid paucity of stocks.

Muradnagar and Muzaffarnagar gur market also showed a rise of up to Rs 150 per quintal on heavy buying. 

Market analysts said fall in production due to adverse weather conditions created tight stocks positions and pushed up gur prices.

In Delhi, gur chakku, pedi and dhayya prices were quoted higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,800-2,900, Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal, respectively.

At Muradnagar, gur dhayya climbed up by Rs 150 to close at Rs 2,900-3,000 from Rs 2,750-2,850 per quintal, while pedi prices traded higher at Rs 2,650-2,750 from Rs 2,600-2,675 per quintal. 

 

In Muzaffarnagar, gur chakku and khurpa prices gained to finish at Rs 2,500-2,700 and Rs 2,550-2,600 from Rs 2,450-2,650 and Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal, respectively. 

Gur raskat also jumped up by Rs 75 at Rs 2,350-2,450 per quintal on brisk buying by alcohol making industries.

Following were today's quotations per quintal: 

Chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, Dhayya Rs 3,100-3,200, and Shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200
Muzaffarnagar: Raskat Rs 2,350-2,450, chakku Rs 2,500-2,700 and Khurpa Rs 2,550-2,600
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,650-2,750 and Dhaya Rs 2,900-3,000
