Sensex up 122pts; ACC, HDFC gain 2%

The NSE Nifty is up 20 points at 5,248.

Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Energy have rallied 3% each to Rs 3,233 and Rs 1,569, respectively.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has surged 2.8% to Rs 295. ICICI Bank has advanced over 2% to Rs 956.

ACC and HDFC have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 767 and Rs 2,820, respectively.

Maruti and Grasim are up over 1% each at Rs 798 and Rs 2,395, respectively.

Hindalco and Wipro have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 183 and Rs 495, respectively.

Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have shed 1.3% each at Rs 682 and Rs 682, respectively. SBI is down 1% at Rs 1,804.

 

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,499 stocks traded, 2,049 have advanced, 420 have declined and 30 are unchanged.
