An investment of Rs 2,700 crore by 151 companies today made its way into Jharkhand in continuation with last year's Momentum Jharkhand Investors Summit.
Foundation (investments) for the development of the entire Santhal Pargana is being laid at Baba Baijnath Dham. Ten thousand people will benefit from employment. For the first time after independence, such a programme is being organised," Chief Minister Raghubar Das said at the event.
He said the Santhal Pargana (comprising six districts), has been backward since independence but now it would not remain so as special schemes were made for the region.
Das said Jharkhand is a prosperous state but for some reasons, it could not be developed as it should have been.
"Despite having mineral resources, the people here are living in deprivation," Das said.
The government has organised the global investment summit to fulfill the desire of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay to give job to every hand and water to every agriculture land, Das said.
MoUs signed between the government and the companies are slowly coming on the ground, Das said.
Elaborating on the investments, Das said Rs 120 crore worth Plastic Park will be set up in Devipur in Deoghar district. Land has been transferred for construction of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and foundation for a airport would be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly.
Das said women empowerment was necessary for the development of the state. They are being connected with self-employment schemes by the Dumka administration, he said.
Work is also on in making Balijore footwear in Balijore village to empower women, he said.
Jharkhand organised its first Momentum Jharkhand summit in Ranchi on May 18, 2017 in which 21 projects worth Rs 710 crore and 21,184 employment were committed, a press release said.
The second was held in Jamshedpur on August 19, 2017 in which 74 projects, Rs 2,184 crore investments and 10,335 employment were pledged.
The third was held in Bokaro on December 20, 2017 where 105 projects, Rs 3,375 crore and 17,700 employment were committed.
