Sbi Officers Threaten Countrywide Stir From June 23

The strike called by the All India State Bank of India Officers Association is set to go nation-wide from June 23. The talks between the association and the banks management ended in a stalemate yet again on Saturday as both sides refused to budge from their respective positions.

The local head office consisting of 13 circles will observe a token strike on June 19 and from June 23 onwards the strike will be extended all over the country if the issue is not resolved.

The All India State Bank Officers Federation has convened a meeting on June 17 at Calcutta. Besides, All India Bank Officers Confederation has offered to extend support to the SBI officers when the strike goes nation-wide.

 

The officers of the bank continued to abstain from work for the fourth successive day on Saturday in protest against the managements action. Further, the strike is being extended to Mumbai circle (entire Maharashtra and Goa), covering 890 branches, from June 16. Till date, the operations in only 130 branches were affected.

While the management reportedly pleaded their helplessness in revoking the suspension order, the officers association reiterated their stand that they will not suspend their agitation till the suspension order served to three of their colleagues, R L Walker, chief manager besides V N Patil and M M Narang, deputy managers working at the Mumbai main branch is revoked.
