Share Prices Ease

Trading on the Calcutta stock exchange was dull yesterday with the share-values easing further on offerings from higher levels.
The market remained in the bear phase and domestic institutions and FIIs were cautious. Rumours on Narasimha Rao being admitted to a nursing home affected sentiments.
The volume of business was restricted. The 51-scrip CSE Index fell 5.22 points at 415.15 points.
On CSE, prices of pivotals suffered. The SBI stock saw hectic activity. Its price fell further after opening lower at Rs 222.50. It touched a high of Rs 227 and closed at Rs 219. Hectic trading was also seen in ITC and Reliance. While ITC firmed and closed higher at Rs 300, Reliance declined to settle lower at Rs 188. ACC, Tisco and Larsen & Toubro also moved in a narrow range and closed at Rs 1,645, Rs 165.50 and Rs 215.50 respectively.
