Telco Adds Zing To Its Models

Telco, Indias largest vehicle manufacturer, has developed a prototype of a four-seater micro car, Zing, expected to serve as a cheaper and more comfortable alternative to three-wheeler auto rickshaws.
This is part of Telcos strategy to orient its product mix towards cars, a move that started with Sierra, Safari and the recently unveiled Project Mint small car.
A Telco executive pointed out that the company is displaying the car as a concept vehicle.

It is in the development stage and is planning to manufacture them within the next one and half years.
The Zing has a fibreglass body, is more powerful than an auto rickshaw and is likely to have a four-stroke diesel engine.
As in the recently launched small car, the Zing will sport the Telco emblem `T in an oval frame instead of the usual round monogram.
The car has been developed and designed by Telcos Engineering Research Centre at Pune. The micro cars design and styling was done using computer-aided industrial design technology.
The car is aimed for intra-city use in developing nations and will be positioned as a practical micro car for small families and groups. The company says it will be a fun go-about vehicle for use in tourist resorts and youth segments.
