Kerala blast: Amit Shah speaks to Kerala CM; NSG, NIA teams being sent

One person died and over 20 were injured in a blast at a convention centre in Kalamassery here on Sunday morning, police said. An officer of Kalamassery police said the cause of the blast or whether there was more than one was not confirmed. The blast reportedly occurred at a convention centre of a Christian group. He said a call was received around 9 am about the blast and seeking police assistance. Visuals of the incident on TV channels showed fire rescue and police personnel in large numbers evacuating people from the site. Disturbing visuals of the blast inside the convention centre showed multiple fires inside the hall as people were screaming in fear. Hundreds of people were seen outside the convention centre post the explosion.

Madhya Pradesh polls: Amit Shah to address public meeting in Ujjain today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Sunday address a public meeting in Ujjain and take part in a series of meetings of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, where the assembly polls are scheduled next month. Shah is on a three-day visit to the state from Saturday. On Sunday, after garlanding the statue of Raja Bhoj in state capital Bhopal, Shah will head to Khajuraho to take part in a meeting of Sagar division of the BJP, party sources said. He will later go to Rewa to address the party workers of Rewa and Shahdol divisions, they said. In the evening, Shah will head to Ujjain to offer prayers at the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple and address a public meeting. He will also address the party workers of Ujjain division. Madhya Pradesh BJP president VD Sharma will accompany Shah during his ongoing visit to the state. Elections to the 230-member state assembly will be held on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls: Amit Shah on three-day visit to state

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day visit to poll-bound Madhya Pradesh starting Saturday, a party release said. He will visit Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Bhopal, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Shahdol, Ujjain, Indore and Gwalior districts and address divisional meetings, public gatherings and take part in different functions during the visit, it said. On Saturday, Shah will pay tributes to tribal martyrs king Shankar Shah and his son Raghunath Shah near Rani Durgawati Hospital in Jabalpur at 12.50 pm. He will then address a meeting at the Bharatiya Janata Party's Jabalpur divisional office at 1.30 pm, the BJP release added. At 3.40 pm, Shah will address a public meeting at Junnardeo in Chhindwara district. He will then address a meeting of the BJP's Bhopal and Narmadapuram divisions, it said. Assembly polls will be held on November 17 in MP, while counting of votes will take place on December 3.

New Bills replacing IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act will be passed soon: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the three new Bills replacing Indian Penal Code (IPC), CrPC and Indian Evidence Act will be passed by the Parliament soon. Speaking at the Passing Out parade of IPS cadets at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy here, Shah said India is dispensing with the laws made during British rule and is entering a new era with new confidence and new hopes. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs is examining the three new bills and they will be passed soon, he said. The new laws are aimed to protect the people's rights, he said. Noting that the women IPS cadets' number is increasing, Shah said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the country is progressing in women-led development.

BBSSL to provide scientifically produced certified seeds to farmers: Shah

Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday stressed on the need to provide quality seeds to farmers for increasing crop production and said a new cooperative society, BBSSL has been established to boost domestic production as well as exports of certified seeds. The minister was speaking at 'National Symposium on Production of Improved and Traditional Seeds through Cooperative Sector' organized by newly established Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Ltd (BBSSL) here. Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd (KRIBHCO), National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) have jointly promoted BBSSL. He was speaking after inaugurating a nano DAP (diammonium phosphate liquid ) manufacturing plant at the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited's (IFFCO) unit at Kalol in Gujarat's Gandhinagar district on Tuesday. It is the world's first such plant, IFFCO said in a statement. When a list of the biggest experiments in the field of agriculture will be prepared ten years from now, I can say with certainty that IFFCO's nano urea and nano DAP will find a place in it," he said.
