Green-certified office space stock have increased 36 per cent to 342 million square feet across six major cities in the last three and half years, according to a CBRE-CII report. Real estate consultant CBRE and industry body CII on Wednesday released its report titled, 'Indian Real Estate: Taking Giant Strides - 2023 Mid-Year Outlook' at CII Realty conference here. According to the report, green-certified office stock stood at 251 million square feet in 2019. Security stepped up in Bengaluru over protests on Cauvery water dispute

Amid protests in several parts of Karnataka over the Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka, including Bengaluru, the city police has tightened security, especially in Tamil dominant areas. These precautions were taken after protests erupted following the Supreme Court decision yesterday to not interfere with the order of Cauvery Water Regulation Committee according to which Karnataka must release 5,000 cusecs of water per day to Tamil Nadu. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda held meetings with his subordinates and instructed all the deputy commissioners of police in the city to be on high alert and step up security in their respective jurisdictions especially in Tamil dominant areas to avoid any untoward incident. 7 leopard cubs die at Bengaluru biological park after virus attack

Seven leopard cubs have died at Bannerghatta Biological Park here after being infected by a highly contagious virus, officials said on Tuesday. Feline panleukopenia (FP) is a viral disease of cats caused by the feline parvovirus. Kittens are most severely affected by the virus, they said. According to officials, the first outbreak was reported on August 22. The seven cubs were aged between three and eight months. All of them were vaccinated but succumbed during the course of treatment. Executive Director of Bannerghatta Biological Park, A V Surya Sen said though the seven cubs were vaccinated, they were still infected. NHAI arm to develop logistics park in Bengaluru at Rs 1,770 crore

National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML), an NHAI subsidiary, has signed an agreement for the development of Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Bengaluru at an estimated cost of Rs 1,770 crore. The project -- to be developed under the public private partnership model -- is poised to become the first and largest MMLP to be implemented in the country under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, according to an official statement on Monday. The agreement has been signed between Bengaluru MMLP Pvt Ltd -- a government Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) -- and concessionaire SPV M/s PATH Bengaluru Logistics Park Pvt Ltd. A government SPV was incorporated between NHLML, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd and Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, the statement said. Special NIA court convicts sixth accused in Bengaluru fake currency case

A special NIA court has convicted a woman in the Bengaluru fake currency case involving smuggling of huge quantities of high-quality counterfeit banknotes from Bangladesh into India via Karnataka. Vanitha alias 'Thangam' is the sixth accused to be convicted in the case. She was sentenced to six years of imprisonment under Section 489B (using as genuine counterfeit currency notes) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), five years of imprisonment under Section 489C (possession of counterfeit currency notes) of the IPC, and two years of imprisonment under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. All the sentences will run concurrently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Saturday. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Vanitha. The Geological Survey of India Training Institute (GSITI), Hyderabad has signed a memorandum of understanding with ISRO, Bengaluru under the National Natural Resources Management System programme. Crib expands client base to 1,000 with revenue run rate of Rs 6.5 cr

Bengaluru-based proptech startup Crib on Tuesday said it is providing tech solutions to more than 1,000 individuals or entities that provide rental accommodation to students and working professionals and aims to close this fiscal with an annual revenue run rate of Rs 6.5 crore. These clients use Crib's app and software for effective property and tenant management. Crib caters to both traditional hostels and contemporary co-living setups. "In the last 15 months (since inception), we have acquired more than 1,000 clients with an aggregate capacity of over 1.5 lakh beds across major cities," Crib CEO Sunny Garg said in a statement. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said some of the demands by private transporters', who are observing bandh today by staying off roads, are "impossible demands" and cannot be met. Bengaluru police get over 15,000 SIM cards used by fraudsters blocked

The city police have identified and blocked in the last three weeks more than 15,000 SIM cards used by fraudsters to cheat residents of Bengaluru, in a bid to curb cybercrime. The police action came after a surge in cases of cybercrime registered across its city limits, they said on Saturday. According to the police, a special drive was started on August 16 with an aim to check incidents of cybercrime in the city. As part of the initiative, the police have managed to identify and get blocked 15,378 SIM cards from August 16 to September 7. Most of these SIM cards were found to be operational in northern India and were used by fraudsters to cheat residents of Bengaluru through various fraudulent modus operandi.
