BJP leader Satish Poonia said the people will vote for a "double-engine" government in Rajasthan, where assembly elections are underway for 199 seats on Saturday. The change that was ushered in the country in 2014 when Narendra Modi became prime minister is continuing. He added that Modi remains the most liked leader. "I believe that people will vote for a double-engine government that is needed in Rajasthan," Poonia told PTI in Jaipur. "There are issues such as poor law and order, crimes against women, paper leaks, on which people gave reactions," he said. BJP leaders use the term "double-engine" government when their party is in power both in the state and at the Centre. Polling in 199 out of the 200 assembly constituencies began at 7 am. Elections in the Karanpur seat of Sriganganagar district have been postponed following the death of the Congress candidate.
Since 1998, the Congress and BJP have been coming to power in the state alternately after every five years
Taking to his official handle on social media platform X, PM Modi also urged voters to turn out in big numbers and register a record turnout
Polling will be held in 199 out of 200 constituencies from 7 am to 6 pm, while the counting of votes will be taken up on December 3

The political slugfest over Rahul Gandhi's 'panauti' barb at Prime Minister Narendra Modi escalated into a poster war on social media on Friday with the Congress referring to the PM as "Panauti-e-Azam" and the BJP hitting back, calling the Gandhi family the "real panauti" of the country. A Hindi slang, "panauti" loosely refers to someone who brings bad luck. The poster battle comes a day after the Election Commission (EC) issued a show-cause notice to Rahul Gandhi for his "panauti", "pickpocket" and "loan waiver for the super rich" jibes at Prime Minister Modi, and asked him to respond by Saturday. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had approached the poll panel against the former Congress president, saying it was "unbecoming" of a "very senior leader" to use such language. The Congress put out a poster on X in which Modi is shown behind a curtain with the words "PANAUTI-E-AZAM" written on it. Hitting back at the Congress, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla put out another .

Hindutva firebrand leader and former BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday urged the "newcomers" in the party to work together with veterans and seniors to achieve the saffron party's common goals. Kumar, who was recently replaced by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy as Telangana BJP president, without naming anyone, called for the newcomers to sort out differences, if any, through dialogue. The BJP national general secretary, who is a sitting MP, is contesting from the Karimnagar assembly segment for the third time. He downplayed his removal as a state unit president, saying that the party is not driven by an individual but by ideology. Kumar also exuded confidence that the BJP will get a majority of seats in the 119-member Telangana assembly in the November 30 polls and the party will form the government this time. "Newcomers may face some difficulty getting along well with senior leaders in the party. Still, we have to work together. If we have joined the party to achieve a
