Gujarat adds 1,883 Covid-19 new cases; 14 deaths take toll to 10,775

Gujarat witnessed 1,883 COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the state to 12,12,370 and toll to 10,775, a health department official said on Friday. The discharge of 5,005 persons during this period took the recovery count to 11,83,294, leaving the state with 18,310 active cases, of which 105 patients are on ventilator support, he said. Of the new cases, Ahmedabad city led with 618, followed by 282 in Vadodara city, 96 in Vadodara district, 95 in Mehsana district, among other areas, he said. As many as 10.07 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Gujarat so far, including 2.06 lakh during the day, he said. In adjoining Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, six COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours took the tally to 11,391, including four deaths, while the discharge of 11,359 persons so far had left the Union Territory with 29 active cases, a local official said. Covid-19 pandemic: Telangana reports 733 fresh cases and 1 death

Telangana on Friday reported 733 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the overall tally to 7,82,336 lakh. The state had recorded 767 new cases on Thursday. The trend of recoveries outnumbering daily infections also continued with 2,850 people recuperating from the infectious disease. The cumulative number of recoveries till date was 7,62,594, a medical bulletin said. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases with 185, followed by Nalgonda and Medchal Malkajgiri 47 and 44 respectively. The toll increased to 4,106 with one more fatality. The number of active cases was 15,636, the bulletin said. The case fatality rate in the state was 0.52 per cent and the recovery rate was 97.48 per cent.

977 new Covid cases, 12 more deaths in Delhi; positivity rate down to 1.73%

Delhi on Friday reported 977 fresh COVID-19 cases and 12 more deaths, while the positivity rate dropped to 1.73 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department. With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,49,596 and the death toll climbed to 26,047, the latest health bulletin stated. The number of COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago was 56,444, it said. Delhi had on Thursday reported 1,104 cases with a positivity rate of 2.09 per cent, and 12 deaths. The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13. The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic. It took just 10 days for daily cases to drop below the 10,000-mark.
