'PNG rollout to 111 Delhi villages key correction in clean energy drive'

Expanding Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to 111 villages in Delhi's periphery is a significant step towards addressing the needs of communities left behind in India's clean cooking fuel transition, said Kalpana Balakrishnan, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health in India. "These villages represent pockets that could not transition earlier despite economic opportunities nearby. If it were possible, they would have transitioned by now. These are households with the least socio-economic privileges, making this a crucial equity-favouring initiative, Balakrishnan told PTI, referring to the Delhi government's latest push to extend PNG supply to the rural areas. The initiative by the Delhi government in partnership with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and other city gas distribution companies aims to replace traditional biomass and LPG use with cleaner, safer, and more affordable piped gas connections. It is part of a phased plan to connect .

Delhi Cabinet to decide on hospital staff outsourcing in a meeting today

The Delhi government, in a meeting scheduled on Tuesday, is likely to take a call on the Health Department's proposals regarding outsourcing of staff through PSUs and equipping hospitals with MRI machines using a PPP model, official sources said. The proposals will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, scheduled for 12 noon, they said. The Health Department seeks to centralise the outsourcing of staff required for documentation and other formalities at government hospitals and other health facilities of the government by roping in public sector undertakings (PSUs), they said. Presently, the hospitals and other facilities like clinics hire these personnel through private placement entities, said an official. The other proposal is regarding the installation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines through a public-private partnership to meet the growing demand for such crucial scans, he said. There is a shortage of MRI machines in government

Delhi govt plans to rope in ADB for improvement of water supply infra

In a step towards improving Delhi Jal Board's (DJB) water supply network, the Delhi government has in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank decided to restart work on the Wazirabad water supply improvement project, Water Minister Parvesh Verma said on Monday.
