CM Rekha Gupta approves ₹1200 crore funds for Delhi Transport Corporation

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that her government has approved a grant of Rs 1,200 crore for the Delhi Transport Corporation. Out of the total allocation released by the Finance Department, Rs 1,100 crore has been earmarked for payment of salaries, pensions and other statutory dues of DTC employees and pensioners, she said. "The grant reflects the government's commitment to the dignity and financial security of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employees and pensioners," Gupta added. She said DTC employees work tirelessly in all conditions to keep Delhi moving, and the government has ensured that senior pensioners and serving staff never have to wait for their rightful dues. According to officials, the grant also includes Rs 100 crore allocation for developing an advanced traffic system to improve traffic flow and the development of commercial electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the city. Delhi Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions and diversions at several locations on February 9 in connection with an official function at the Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Sthal in Rajghat. According to the advisory, special traffic arrangements will be in place from 10 am to 12 noon on February 9, during which diversions will be imposed depending on the movement of dignitaries. Delhi Traffic Police tests laser speed guns on NH-44 to curb overspeeding

Delhi Traffic Police has intensified speed enforcement measures along the NH-44 corridor by conducting trials of handheld laser speed guns at the Libaspur Bus Stand area, officials said on Saturday. Five handheld laser speed cameras were tested on Friday to support enforcement at high-risk and high-speed corridors across the city. 151 challans were also issued during the drive, they said. The Libaspur Bus Stand area, located in an industrial zone with heavy movement of trucks and commercial vehicles, has witnessed a significant number of crashes. According to Delhi Traffic Police data, 68 road accidents were reported in the Libaspur area between 2018 and 2023, including 28 fatal incidents. Traffic diversions in central Delhi for Indian Navy Half Marathon today

Traffic movement will be regulated and diversions imposed on several key roads in the national capital on Sunday when the Indian Navy Half Marathon is scheduled to be held, Delhi Traffic Police said in an advisory. The event, being organised to promote fitness, a healthy lifestyle and camaraderie between the armed forces and common people, is expected to see participation of around 15,000 runners. The marathon will be flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium at 5 am on February 1. According to the advisory, traffic movement on designated routes will be regulated from 4.45 am to 9 am. Traffic movement in parts of central and north Delhi is likely to be affected on February 1 in view of a Shobha Yatra on the occasion of the 649th Jayanti of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, Delhi Traffic Police said in an advisory. The procession will be carried out by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Janmotsav Committee (Regd.) and will start from Red Fort ground at 2.30 pm and is expected to conclude around 8 pm at Guru Ravidas Mandir, P&T Colony, Guru Ravidas Marg, officials said. Metro gates, central Delhi roads shut for Beating Retreat rehearsals

Exit gates of Udyog Bhawan and Central Secretariat metro stations facing Rafi Marg will remain closed for four hours on January 28 and 29, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said on Wednesday citing security arrangements for the Beating Retreat Ceremony 2026. The specific gates will remain closed from 2 pm to 6 pm, it said. Delhi sees 56% spike in drunken driving challans on New Year's Eve

The Delhi Traffic Police issued 868 challans for drunken driving on New Year's Eve, marking an increase of about 56 per cent over last year when 558 motorists were booked for the offence, officials said on Thursday. The Delhi Traffic Police has imposed fines of over Rs 84.98 crore for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate violations during GRAP stages one and two from October 14 to November 18, officials said. The amount corresponds to 84,981 challans according to official data accessed by PTI, each carrying a penalty of Rs 10,000. The Western Range issued the highest with 22,867 PUC challans, followed by 20,554 in the Southern Range and 13,423 in the New Delhi Range.
