A fire broke out in a building in Bhendi Bazar area of south Mumbai Thursday night. A fire broke out at Punjab Mahal building in Bori Mohalla around 10.30 pm, said a fire brigade official. The area is crowded at night during Ramazan festival. According to the official, initially a short circuit was reported from the building, and fire brigade personnel later found that a fire had broken out. Ten flights were diverted from Delhi international airport on Thursday evening due to heavy winds and rains, airport officials said. "Five flights have been diverted to Jaipur, while three flights have been diverted to Lucknow due to bad weather," said one of the airport officials. "Two other flights have been diverted to Amritsar," another official added. Out of the 10 flights that were diverted to other airports from Delhi, three flights each were of IndiGo and SpiceJet, the officials added. "Two flights were of Air India and one flight each of Air Arabia and Air Mali," the officials said. The officials said all 10 flights were diverted between 6.15 pm and 7.30 pm on Thursday due to heavy winds and rains.
The Delhi High Court has directed a chartered aircraft firm and an insurance company to pay Rs 50 lakh compensation to the families of each of the two doctors and a nurse who were killed in a plane crash while on a medical emergency flight in 2011. National carrier Air India has not been able to operate one of its A321 planes for nearly five months now as it was damaged by runway debris during take-off from Tirupati in January this year. The impact of the runway debris caused severe damages to the aircraft belly and the rudder during the incident which took place on January 29 and it is currently parked at Air India's Maintenance, Overhaul and Repair (MRO) facility at the city airport for repair, a senior Air India engineer said.
