More than 31 lakh passengers booked QR-code tickets on the Delhi Metro app between October 1 and November 15, officials said on Friday. According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) data, 18,20,504 (18.20 lakh) tickets were booked through the mobile application in October while 12,81,422 (12.81 lakh) tickets were bought till November 15. Another 3,41,662 (3.41 lakh) tickets were booked through other digital modes such as WhatsApp in October. The corresponding figure till November 15 stood at 3,97,506 (3.97 lakh), the data showed. The average monthly passenger journey was 61,36,626 (61.36 lakh) in October and 57,45,660 (57.45 lakh) till November 15. Journey or line utilisation is calculated by the number of corridors passengers use to reach their destinations. Construction of one module of the first metro bridge over the Yamuna being built using the cantilever construction technique has been completed, DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar has said and added that the entire work is expected to be completed by September. The bridge -- the fifth metro bridge over the Yamuna -- is being built under Delhi Metro's ongoing Phase IV project. In a recent interview to PTI, Kumar had said that this state-of-the-art bridge would be "visually appealing" and become an iconic landmark similar to the Signature Bridge. The Delhi Metro will run 40 additional trips on weekdays starting October 25, the DMRC said on Tuesday. The move comes days after Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-II measures were invoked to combat pollution in the national capital. The Delhi Metro will run 40 additional train trips on weekdays (Monday-Friday) across its network starting Wednesday, the DMRC said in a statement. This has been planned to increase the use of public transport among passengers across Delhi-NCR, it said. Usually, over 4,300 trips are undertaken by the Delhi Metro everyday, the DMRC said.
Delhi Metro has introduced a QR code-based ticketing facility through the Paytm app across all lines, officials said on Thursday. This expansion of the innovative service was inaugurated by Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), according to an official statement. With this new feature, commuters can now get the mobile QR ticket on the Paytm app under the Delhi Metro' section, by simply entering the station of entry and destination on the day of the journey, it added. Passengers can just hold their smartphone in front of the QR code scanner of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at both entry and exit stations to proceed with the journey. The app was so far only available in English, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a statement. This launch comes as a testament to DMRC's commitment to the Digital India initiative, aimed at providing government services electronically with improved online infrastructure and inclusivity, it said. "The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) broke its own highest passenger journey record made last week by registering an unprecedented 71.03 lakh passenger journeys on Monday, marking the highest-ever daily passenger journeys on the Delhi Metro," a senior official said. Prior to August 29, the highest recorded passenger journey count stood at 68.16 lakh on August 28. The milestone, achieved on Monday, comes after a period of challenges that reflects the resilience and trust of the Delhi NCR citizens in the world-class transportation system provided by DMRC, he said.

The drive may be extended beyond the stipulated ten days, based on the outcomes achieved, a senior official said. The drive will be jointly conducted by DMRC, CISF & DMRP from 6 pm to 10 pm on all lines of the network for the next 10 days till 10th September, 2023. #DelhiMetro," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said on 'X'. The quantum of penalty for a male passenger who enters a women-only coach is Rs 250, the official said. "This drive may be extended further after the first 10 days based on the outcome achieved. Delhi Metro will be running around 106 extra train trips on its corridors on Wednesday to facilitate passengers on the festival of Raksha Bandhan, officials said. Additional Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) personnel will also be deployed at stations to cater to the extra rush of commuters by operating additional ticket counters, they said on Tuesday. If required, additional standby trains will also be kept for induction into services to clear the rush, officials said. The first phase of Odisha's proposed metro rail project will cover a distance of around 26 km and have 20 stations, according to the DPR submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had sanctioned the project on April 1, 2023. The first phase will connect Bhubaneswar Airport and Trishulia in Cuttack. The DMRC submitted the detailed project report (DPR) to Chief Secretary P K Jena on Wednesday, officials said. The DPR was completed after conducting traffic survey, geo-technical investigation, topographic survey, environmental and social impact assessments, they said. The project will be later extended to Khurda, Puri and other areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city, the officials said.
