Disappointed 'Game of Thrones' fan started a petition on change.org urging makers to remake the eight season of the series "with competent writers" a few days back. The petition has now hit 1.06 million signatures.After the petition surpassed one million signatures, its creator, who self-identifies as Dylan D., wrote an update to explain how the plea started, reported The Hollywood Reporter.Dylan explained he wrote the petition after the fourth episode of the last season, 'The Last of the Starks' because he was "just so disappointed and angry. It was simply me venting a bit."After Dylan posted the petition on Reddit, it quickly started to gain supporters. However, Dylan wrote that he didn't expect HBO to respond."I don't think people can reasonably expect HBO to completely remake the season, or any part of this particular series (keep in mind the prequel spinoffs). British director Asif Kapadia's highly anticipated third documentary feature, "Diego Maradona", premiered Out of Competition at the 72 nd Cannes Film Festival on Sunday night. Expectations ran high but the football legend could not make it to the festival owing to a shoulder surgery that he is undergoing in Mexico. Saif Ali Khan's 'Laal Kaptaan' to release in September
Saif Ali Khan-fronted epic action drama "Laal Kaptaan" is set to have a worldwide release on September 6. The film, produced by Eros International and Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions, will feature Saif in the role of a naga sadhu out on a journey ridden with drama, revenge and deceit. "Saif is a gifted actor and this script allows him to showcase his talent like never before. 'Laal Kaptaan' boasts of a larger-than-life landscape, dramatic characters and a gripping story that makes it a first of its kind," Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International said in a statement. "NH 10" helmer Navdeep Singh has directed the movie and Rai said he has full faith in the story. Sarah Gadon, Eili Harboe to star in 'The Northwoods'
"Alias Grace" star Sarah Gadon and "Thelma" actor Eili Harboe are set to headline the Canada/Norway co-production "The Northwoods". According to the Hollywood Reporter, Emma Higgins is directing the feature from her own script. The two actors will play sisters who return home for the first time since their mother's death and reconnect on a trek of the vast Norwegian fjords. "When their guide mysteriously disappears, they realise that trying to outrun the horrors of their past is just as futile as escaping watch is waiting in the darkness," the plot synopsis read. The project is being produced by Dave Hudakoc of levelFILM, Einar Loftesnes of Handmade Films In Norwegian Woods, Daniel Quinn, Jeff Pangman and Evan Landry. Actors John Hannah, Corey Johnson and Oded Fehr are set to star in horror film "Lair". According to Variety, the film is "a socially conscious horror movie about an LGBT family embroiled in one man's attempt to prove the existence of the supernatural". The trio, who featured in the successful franchise "The Mummy", will start shooting for their new film later this year. The film revolves around self-proclaimed occult expert Dr Steven Caramore (Johnson), who makes a living debunking claims of possession, haunting and anything supernatural. When a friend (Fehr) accused of murder claims he was possessed by a demon, Caramore has to test his own beliefs. Hannah plays his lawyer. The movie also features Katarina Cas, Julian Kostov, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jen Brister. Adam Ethan Crow is directing the movie from his own script, with Ditto Films attached to produce.

French-Spanish singer Nilda Fernandez dies aged 61
French-Spanish singer Nilda Fernandez, who won fame with hits in the late 80s and 90s and later became popular in Russia, died Sunday aged 61, his family told AFP. He died of heart failure in the south of France. Born in Barcelona, Fernandez grew up in the French city of Lyon and started playing in bars and clubs with just a guitar in the style of a French chansonnier. By 1981, he recorded his first album but he waited over half a decade more for success with the 1987 song and album "Madrid Madrid" and then his biggest hit "Nos fiancailles" (Our Engagement) in 1991. Known for his agile but vulnerable sounding voice, Fernandez in 2001 left for Russia where he stayed for half a decade, collaborating with Russian pop singer Boris Moiseev. He also worked in Cuba.
