Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare is projected to contribute USD 25-30 billion to India's GDP by 2025, enhancing accessibility, diagnostics, and treatment outcomes, according to a report by Deloitte. Government-backed initiatives like the IndiaAI Mission and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, are setting the stage for a digitally empowered healthcare ecosystem, ensuring responsible AI integration and enhanced data security, it noted. Kerala govt allocates additional Rs 300 cr for integrated healthcare scheme

The Kerala government has allocated an additional Rs 300 crore for Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASAP), its integrated health protection scheme designed to provide coverage to over 64 lakh poor and vulnerable people in the state. With this additional allocation, the total amount earmarked for the flagship scheme in the present financial year has gone up to Rs 978.54 crore, state Finance Minister K N Balagopal said in a statement on Sunday. According to government sources, KASAP aims at providing a health cover of Rs 5 lakh annually to over 41.99 lakh poor and vulnerable families (approximately 64 lakh beneficiaries) that form the bottom 40 per cent of the Kerala population. A total of Rs 700 crore has already been earmarked for the scheme in the state budget for the next financial year, he noted. Union Health Minister J P Nadda Saturday said providing top medical facilities to every Indian is the government's priority and the country has succeeded to a great extent in this direction under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. At the inauguration of the AIIMS Oncology Conclave 2025 at the National Cancer Institute in Jhajjar, he said that in the past people had to sell their homes and land to afford treatments like cancer care. However, with initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and the availability of affordable cancer medicines, all patients can now easily access the treatment they need, he said. Dr Agarwal's Health Care Ltd has logged a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 28.24 crore for the October-December 2024 quarter, the company said. Adani to spend Rs 6,000 cr on setting up health infra with Mayo Clinic

Adani Group will spend Rs 6,000 crore in setting up two 1,000-bed multi-specialty hospitals and medical colleges in Mumbai and Ahmedabad in partnership with Mayo Clinic. The expenditure is part of Rs 10,000 crore that Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, had pledged when his younger son Jeet got married last week. Mayo Clinic, the world's largest integrated not-for-profit medical group practice, will provide technical expertise, Adani Group said in a statement. "Adani Group will fully meet the cost of building affordable, world-class medical care and medical education to people from all strata of society pan India," it said. "The family will donate upwards of Rs 6,000 crore to build the first two of these integrated health campuses in Ahmedabad and Mumbai." Mumbai reports its first case of GBS, 64-year old woman hospitalised

Mumbai reported its first case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) on Friday after a 64-year-old woman was diagnosed with the rare nerve disorder, civic officials said. GBS is a rare condition in which a person's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves, resulting in muscle weakness, loss of sensation in the legs and/or arms, as well as problems swallowing or breathing. Talking to PTI, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and its state-appointed administrator Bhushan Gagrani said the patient was currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a civic-run hospital. BMC officials said the woman, who resides in Andheri (East) area of the city, was hospitalised with a history of fever and diarrhoea that was followed by ascending paralysis.
