Rajkot's Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium will be hosting its first T20 international match since 2023 on Tuesday
Kotak emphasized that the decision to field Shami in upcoming matches depends on the team management's strategy, with particular attention to his workload and upcoming tournaments.

Tilak credited his career turnaround to Suryakumar's decision to promote him to the No. 3 position during their series in South Africa.
Middle-order batter Tilak Varma's "mature" unbeaten 72 was the difference between India and England in the second T20I here, reckoned visitors's pace bowling all-rounder Brydon Carse. Tilak's fifty helped India chase down 166 in a tense chase at the Chepauk on Saturday as the home side took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. "I felt like we got a decent score on the board towards the end. We kept on taking wickets throughout the game. But, you know, credit goes to Tilak and I think he played a very mature, smart innings and ultimately he was the difference," said Carse in the post-match press conference. Carse, who had a good game scoring a 17-ball 31 besides taking three wickets, defended his fellow quick Jofra Archer despite him conceding 60 runs in four overs. Archer was taken apart by Tilak who smashed four sixes off the English fast bowler. "A couple of nights ago, Jofra had an amazing spell up front. I still think he bowled pretty well tonight. He was pretty unfortunate. I
India's middle-order batter Tilak Varma said his breathtaking assault on pacer Jofra Archer in the second T20I here was pre-planned and was intended to neutralise England's best bowler, which in turn demoralised the rest of the pack. Tilak, who made an unbeaten 72 off 55 balls, creamed Archer for four sixes, including a scarcely believable pick-up flick over deep fine leg, as the Sussex man leaked 60 runs in his four overs at Chepauk on Saturday. India won the match by two wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Archer had figures of 4-0-21-2 in the first match at Kolkata, underlining the success Tilak's strategy had here. "I wanted to target their best bowler. If you take on the best bowler, other bowlers will be under pressure. So, when the wickets are falling (at the other end), I want to take on their best bowlers," Tilak said in the post-match press conference. "If I do that it makes it easier (for other batters). So, I backed myself and took chances against him

Mohammed Shami's much-awaited return to top-flight cricket did not receive too many supporting signals during the seasoned pacer's nearly hour-long stint of varying intensity at the India nets here on Friday. Shami, whose last appearance in India colours was during the 2023 World Cup final, worked hard on finding his bowling rhythm at the Chepauk, but never really hit his flowing peak which makes him a tough customer for batters. Shami was expected to feature in the playing 11 during India's first T20I against England at Kolkata on Wednesday, but the management decided to delay his comeback. Much like he did at the Eden Gardens, Shami was an active presence in the nets here too, starting with a light jogging session alongside assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Then the 34-year-old engaged in throwing drills for a few minutes with fielding coach T Dilip before hitting the bowling nets closer to the Madras Cricket Club stand. Shami, whose both legs were heavily bandaged, began with hal
Although the extent of the injury remains unclear, Abhishek's availability for the match on Saturday is uncertain.
It is expected that Shami will feature in the second T20I, as the team management will want to assess his fitness ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy.
England captain Jos Buttler attributed the crushing seven-wicket defeat against India in the first T20 International here to his batters' inability to "impose the game" when faced with quality spin bowling. England's new white-ball coach Brendon McCullum began his new innings with a defeat against India after England collapsed against the spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi to fold for 132. The target was comfortably chased by India in just 12.5 overs, handing England a 0-1 deficit in the five-match series here on Wednesday. "Yeah, we just didn't quite manage to impose the game that we wanted to play against them. They bowled well," Buttler said at the post-match media interaction here at Eden Gardens. "A few guys were probably facing a few of those guys for the first time as well. It would be better for seeing them. You want to play better and put them under pressure and get a big score that we can defend." The England skipper acknowledged that spin will
