Police Tuesday arrested a Russian national for allegedly assaulting a linesman working with the state electricity department in Goa. The accused, Aleksei Zainulin, pushed Pradeep Gawandi, working as a linesman with the electricity department, while he was discharging his duty at Keri village in Pernem taluka near here Monday, the police said. The victim registered a police complaint following which Zainulin was arrested, they said. The complainant said the accused, without any provocation, assaulted him following which he fell on the ground and suffered grievous injuries, the police added.

The Delhi police has arrested two persons for allegedly killing a man in northeast Delhi, officials said Tuesday. The accused, identified as Rihan (32) and his nephew Danish (24), are residents of J-block in New Seelampur, they said. "Police on April 13 received information regarding an injured person Nafees. He was declared brought dead at GTB Hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said. Three children, who went missing, were rescued from Delhi's Kakardooma and Dilshad Colony areas by PCR personnel and reunited with their families, police officials said Tuesday. Siblings Gaurav (5) and Aadi (4) were found wandering near the Kakardooma Metro Station on Monday and the third child, a three-year-old girl, was found at a street in Dilshad Colony. Gaurav and Aadi were spotted by two policemen near the metro station around 7 pm on Monday and the children told them that they had lost their way back home, a senior officer said, adding that the minors were apparently distraught and confused. They were immediately taken to the Anand Vihar police station, police said. CBI on Tuesday denied issuing a second summon to former Kolkata police chief Rajeev Kumar after he failed to appear at the agency's office on Monday in connection with the ongoing investigation into Saradha chit fund scam."No second notice has been issued to former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar," the probe agency said in a statement.Kumar, who had failed to appear before the CBI on Monday, had written a letter to the probe agency saying he is on leave. A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly abducting the father of a woman he wanted to marry after her family rejected his proposal, police said Tuesday. The accused, identified as Sanjeev, was arrested on Monday. A resident of Meerut, he was working as a delivery boy with an online shopping company and had met the woman a few years ago through a common friend, they said. Sanjeev had been harassing her family to agree to their marriage for a while. The woman's family had even shifted to their native place to avoid him, they said. The NHRC Tuesday sent a notice to DGP of Haryana over reports of a video of a woman allegedly being beaten by some Faridabad police personnel going viral on social media. The matter was also brought to notice of the Haryana Police on Monday by the State Women Commission which took strong view of the incident. "The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of media reports about a policeman brutally beating a woman with a belt in Adarsh Nagar police station area, district Faridabad, Haryana in October 2018," the NHRC said in a statement. The commission said it has issued a notice to the director general of police of Haryana, seeking a detailed report, including status of the criminal case registered against the guilty public servants, adding that the response is expected within six weeks positively. The Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department personnel seized 282 gm of heroin from two places here, an official said Tuesday. The spokesman said three persons were arrested by personnel of the anti-narcotics squad on Monday night for allegedly trafficking of the contraband worth Rs 10.5 lakh in the local market, from Myanmar. A person from neighbouring Manipur was also arrested by the officials at the same time for possession of 2.163 kg of Ganja (cannabis), he said. A grocery shop-owner was killed by unidentified miscreants in Bihar's Begusarai district on Tuesday, police said. A three-year-old girl was Tuesday allegedly raped by a 55-year-old man, who lured the minor out of her house when her father was asleep, in a village in Sultanpur Lodhi here, police said. The minor victim, daughter of a migrant labourer from Bihar, was lured out of her room by accused Ganesh on some pretext in the morning, SHO Vikramjeet Singh said. The accused took the girl to his place in the neighbourhood and allegedly raped her, Singh said. Locals alerted by the cries of the minor rushed to her rescue and caught the accused, he said. Ganesh, who hails from Tamil Nadu, has been booked under relevant provisions of the law, including the POCSO Act, Singh said. A 10-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in Uttarkhand's Pauri Garhwal district. The incident occurred when the deceased, Mitali, was out in a field along with two women of her village in Pabau area on Monday evening, hospital sources said on Tuesday.
