Thousands of protesters massed outside Sudan's army complex in Khartoum on Friday, piling pressure on the country's new military rulers to swiftly transfer power to a civilian administration, witnesses said. The army on April 11 ousted Sudan's longtime leader Omar al-Bashir after a months-long protest movement. A military council which took power has so far resisted calls from protesters to quickly bring in a civilian adminstration. On Thursday, exactly four months since protests started, roads leading to the sit-in area were packed with crowds flocking to the army headquarters. Two Indian Navy ships to participate in PLA Navy's 70th anniversary
Two Indian Navy ships will participate in an international maritime parade off the coast of Qingdao in China next week, marking the 70th anniversary of founding of the Chinese Navy. Indian Navy ships -- INS Kolkata and INS Shakti -- will arrive in Qingdao on Sunday to participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR), Navy Spokesperson Capt D K Sharma said. Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to witness the IFR on April 23. China's defence spokesman Col Wu Qian said last month that over 60 countries would join the commemorative event on 23 April. IFR is a parade of naval ships, aircraft and submarines, and is organised by nations to promote goodwill, strengthen cooperation and showcase their naval capabilities. The Election Commission on Thursday banned the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee's poll campaign, which uses the slogan 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' (Watchman is the thief)."The Congress's advertisement campaign, titled 'Chowkidar chor hai' has been banned with an immediate effect.
