Lessons from a 'Pandit': How Vidarbha plotted Pujara's fall in first innings

In football, there are certain goals scored through set-pieces which are known to be straight out of the drawing board and Cheteshwar Pujara's dismissal on Monday could well be called a cricketing equivalent where Chandrakant Pandit was the master planner. One of the shrewdest tacticians in domestic circuit, Pandit has tons of experience in orchestrating big wins for domestic heavyweights like Mumbai and he ensured that his men studied chinks in India star's armoury. That Pujara remains tentative at the beginning of the innings is a well known fact and Vidarbha bowlers' only aim was to see that he is not allowed to dig his heels in order to score a 'Daddy Hundred'. Left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate, who claimed the biggest prize of his career, revealed that they had kept an eye on Pujara during the Australia series and had found one 'weakness' to exploit. Sarwate, who has 131 first-class wickets to his credit, declared without hesitation that today he has got his career's biggest wicket

Indian Arrows hope to leapfrog defending champions Minerva Punjab

Indian Arrows would look to register their fifth win of the season when they meet a struggling Minerva Punjab FC in their I-League match here on Tuesday. If the developmental side of the All India Football Federation can pull off a win at their 'home' venue Kalinga Stadium, they will leapfrog the defending champions from Punjab and move up to a creditable seventh spot on the points table. Minerva Punjab had beaten the Arrows by a solitary goal in the first leg fixture more than two months ago, but the youngsters under coach Floyd Pinto have found a semblance of consistency in performance since then. The Arrows now lie ninth on the table with 13 points from 15 games and a win on Tuesday would take them clear of seventh-placed Minerva and eighth-placed Aizawl FC (both have 14 points from 14 games).
