Tata AutoComp to acquire IAC Sweden, strengthening European presence

Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd on Monday said it will acquire International Automotive Components Group Sweden AB (IAC Sweden), in a bid to strengthen its presence in Europe's automotive sector. This proposed acquisition reinforces Tata AutoComp's presence in Sweden and enhances the company's relationships with key European Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in both the passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle segments, further expanding its global footprint, the company said in a statement. The company, however, did not disclose any financial details. IAC Sweden has a turnover of approximately USD 800 million and is a well established manufacturer of interior systems and components to the automotive industry, it added. The transaction is subject to European regulatory approvals, the company said. Air India sacks trainer pilot after probe into whistleblower claims

Air India on Wednesday said it has terminated the services of a trainer pilot for lapses and 10 pilots who underwent training under the trainer pilot have been removed from flying duties pending investigation. The latest action came after a whistleblower alleged that a simulator trainer pilot had failed to properly discharge his duties during recurrent simulator training for pilots. In a statement, the Tata Group-owned airline said a detailed probe was conducted into the allegations, which were corroborated after a review of the evidence. Without disclosing specific details, Air India said the trainer pilot's services are being terminated. "As a precaution, ten pilots who underwent recurrent training under the trainer pilot have been removed from flying duties pending further investigation," the airline said. Tata to invest in key electronic mfg unit, green energy in Assam: Chairman

Tata group chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran on Tuesday said the company will invest in a large electronics manufacturing unit in Assam over the next few years and collaborate with the state government in the green energy sector. Speaking at the inauguration of the Advantage Assam business summit, Chandrasekaran said, "The Tata group has a long and significant association with Assam." He highlighted the Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor unit coming up in Jagiroad as "the most significant investment in the state so far." "Taking forward the group's commitment towards the state, it will invest in another large electronics manufacturing unit soon," he added. The group will also partner with the state government in the green energy sector, with commitment to invest in solar and other renewable power generation, Chandrasekaran added.
