Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Saturday claimed that dengue situation in the state is under complete control and directed all chief medical officers to conduct regular inspections of hospitals. He asked them to ensure that private pathology labs do not overcharge for a medical test. Pathak, who is handling the health and medical department in the state, reviewed the control and prevention of dengue and other communicable diseases in the state along with senior officers. According to an official statement, he said hospitals are being equipped with state-of-the-art machines and equipment. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday announced a monthly motorcycle allowance of Rs 500 for police personnel in the state. "The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to increase the cycle allowance of Rs 200 given to policemen to Rs 500 (per month) as motorcycle allowance," Adityanath said during his address at the Police Memorial Day Parade at Reserve Police Lines here. The government will also link the police personnel with an e-pension portal, Adityanath said. The chief minister added that the Director General of Police (DGP) would now clear medical bills of up to Rs 5 lakh, earlier approved at the government level. The Supreme Court on Friday junked a plea seeking a "fact-finding inquiry" into the history of the Taj Mahal and the "opening of 22 rooms" on the monument's premises, terming it "publicity interest litigation". A bench of justices M R Shah and M M Sundresh refused to interfere with the Allahabad High Court order that had dismissed the plea. A private hospital here has been sealed for allegedly transfusing fruit juice instead of blood platelets to a dengue patient who later died, police said. After a video of the alleged incident went viral on social media, the district administration swung into action and the hospital was sealed on Thursday on the direction of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. The patient, Pradeep Pandey, was shifted to another hospital, where he died after his condition deteriorated, officials said. However, no FIR has been registered at the local police station. Two labourers hailing from Uttar Pradesh were killed apparently in their sleep when terrorists lobbed a grenade at them on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in militancy-infested Shopian district of South Kashmir, officials said. The incident took place at around 12.30 am on Tuesday when the victims identified as Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar, natives of UP's Kannauj district, were sleeping in a tin shed constructed as an out house, the officials said, adding the duo was working in the apple orchards as labourers. An activist of the Popular Front of India was arrested by a team of Anti Terrorist Squad and local police here on Monday, officials said. Nasir Kamal, a resident of the city's Prema Rai locality who was active worker of the organisation, was arrested, Additional Superintendent of Police, Tribhuvan Nath Tripathi said. He was later produced in a court which sent him to 14 days judicial custody. During interrogation, Kamal told the police that he had attended several meetings of PFI and knew a number of people who had been arrested by the ATS earlier.
