Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a government medical college to be constructed at a cost of Rs 250 crores.Moreover, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone and/or inaugurated several developmental projects worth Rs 96 crores.In a tweet on Thursday, the Chief Minister wrote, "Under Phase 3 of Government of India Aided Scheme in Pilibhit district, the foundation stone of the Government Medical College to be constructed at a cost of Rs 250 crores and 70 development projects worth Rs 96 crores was inaugurated/foundation stone laid."Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that with the construction of the medical college, the government aims to provide more government jobs in the state."Government Medical College will be constructed in Pilibhit at a cost of Rs 250 Crores. Jhansi Railway Station now Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station'

The Uttar Pradesh government has renamed Jhansi Railway Station as Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station' after Rani Laxmibai. The announcement was made by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday in a tweet in Hindi. "The Jhansi Railway station will now be known as 'Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station', he wrote. A notification to this effect has been issued by the UP government and the Railways has started preparations to implement the change, Chief PRO of North Central Railway, Prayagraj, Shivam Sharma, said. The notification stated that the station's name was changed following a "no-objection" given by the Ministry of Home Affairs in a letter dated November 24, 2021. Earlier the Mughalsarai Railway station was renamed as Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction and the Faizabad Railway station as Ayodhya Cantt. Noida's active Covid-19 caseload reaches 99, highest in Uttar Pradesh

Gautam Buddh Nagar on Wednesday recorded 21 new COVID-19 infections that pushed the number of active cases in the district to 99 the highest in Uttar Pradesh, official data showed. Ghaziabad, adjoining Gautam Buddh Nagar, also recorded 13 new cases that pushed its tally of active infections to 75 the third highest in the state, the data showed. Uttar Pradesh currently has 473 active cases of COVID-19, according to the data shared by the state's health department for a 24-hour period. State capital Lucknow had 90 active cases, the second highest in the state after Gautam Buddh Nagar, the statistics showed. So far, Gautam Buddh Nagar has recorded 468 deaths due to the pandemic, while Ghaziabad has logged 461 such fatalities, according to the official data. COVID-19 cases had reduced to single digit figures both in Gautam Buddh Nagar as well as Ghaziabad but surged again this month amid fears of a third wave of the pandemic, as night curfews were also brought back in UP from Decemb
