Uttar Pradesh: AAP to take out Tiranga Yatras in Ayodhya, Lucknow, Noida

Ahead of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, the AAP will take out a Tiranga Yatras in Ayodhya, Lucknow and Noida to mark the 75th year of India's Independence, party leaders said. In Ayodhya, party sources said the yatra will make a brief halt at the Ram temple. The yatra is scheduled for mid-September. The AAP will also hold Tiranga Yatras in Agra on Sunday and Noida on September 1, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will participate in these yatras. Party leaders said as the country is marking the 75th year of Independence, the yatra aims to unite people against the politics of casteism and corruption. Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year. The AAP has announced its plan to contest polls in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

UP: Bareilly court acquits 12 Tablighi Jamaat members, including 9 Thais

Twelve members of Tablighi Jamaat, including nine Thai nationals, were acquitted for lack of evidence by a local court here on Friday, officials said. Defence counsel Milan Kumar Gupta said that a case was lodged against 12 members of the Tablighi Jamaat, including the nine Thai nationals, two persons from Tamil Nadu, and one local. They were arrested last year from a mosque in Shahjahanpur allegedly for violation of pandemic guidelines. A case was registered against them at Sadar police station in Shahjahanpur under various sections of the IPC, Epidemic Act, Disaster Management Act, Foreigners Act and Passport Act. The hearing of the case was held in Bareilly. Gupta said during the hearing of the case, the members of the Tablighi Jamaat pleaded innocence. A spate of cases was registered against members of Tablighi Jamaat after it held a meeting at a markaz in Nizamuddin area in Delhi last March. Medical student from Uttar Pradesh gang raped in Mysuru; CM orders probe

A medical student studying in a private college here was allegedly gang-raped by unidentified people on the outskirts of the city near Lalitadripura, police said on Wednesday. The student, riding pillion with her male friend, was on her way to Chamundi Hills when a few people waylaid them on Tuesday. The gang initially demanded money, but when they found nothing, attacked her friend and dragged her to a place where they committed the crime, police said. The victim has been admitted to a hospital. Based on her complaint, a case of gang-rape has been registered against unknown people, police added.
