Appeasement politics biggest hindrance in our development journey: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said politics of appeasement is the biggest obstacle in the country's journey of development, and cautioned against "a very large political class" which cannot see a way of doing positive politics and can even compromise with the country's unity for their selfish goals. In the last nine years, India's internal security has been getting challenges from multiple fronts, but because of the hard work of security forces, the enemies of the country are not being able to succeed like they did in the past, Modi said. He was addressing a gathering at the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Gujarat's Narmada district after paying floral tribute to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary, which is celebrated as National Unity Day. For India, the next 25 years of this century is the most important period, Modi said, adding that "we have to make our country prosperous and developed" and achieve the goal while drawing inspiration from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Such massive scam can't take place without Kejriwal's approval: BJP

The BJP on Tuesday sharpened its attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the excise policy case, claiming that such a "massive scam" could not have taken place with his clear approval. "Jai karni waisi bharni (you reap what you sow)," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told a press conference, a day after the Enforcement Directorate summoned Kejriwal on November 2 for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. Dismissing the AAP's allegations that the Central government was trying to finish it off, he said it was the Kejriwal-led party which was finishing itself off with its "misdeeds, corruption and scams". Prasad claimed the BJP has nothing to do with central probe agencies' action against the AAP and that the legal process was following its own course in the matter. "What agencies do is none of our concern. It is for them to decide." He rhetorically asked did the BJP tell them to frame such an excise policy that "gives them commissio

Centre misusing agencies for political gains, move will boomerang: Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accused the BJP-led Centre on Monday of misusing probe agencies for political gains and asserted that the tactic would boomerang on the saffron party as people have now become aware of it. Ahead of electoral bond hearing, Chidambaram slams BJP on fund raising

With the Supreme Court set to commence hearing on a batch of pleas challenging the validity of the electoral bond scheme, Congress leader P Chidambaram on Monday alleged that the BJP has made its intentions clear that it will raise its funds from big corporates in an "opaque, secretive and conspiratorial manner." The BJP hit back at Chidambaram for his remark, saying it is piteous that Congress opposes any attempts made to ensure a more transparent and democratic political funding system. Chidambaram's attack on the BJP came after the Centre contended that the electoral bond scheme for political funding of parties contributes to clean money. Attorney General R Venkataramani told the Supreme Court that citizens did not have the right to information regarding the source of funds under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. In a post on X, Chidambaram said, "On the eve of the hearing of the Electoral Bonds case, the BJP has made its intentions clear. The BJP will raise its funds from b

Terming the BJP leader's posts as part of his communal stand, Vijayan, without naming Chandrasekhar, sought to know based on what information the union minister made such remarks against him and how a person holding a responsible position could come out with such statements while the investigation was going on. Vijayan, during a brief press meet held at the Secretariat complex in Thiruvananthapuram, had alleged that the statements by the BJP leader were the reflection of an absolute communal outlook. Responding to the CM's remarks, Chandrasekhar clarified that he did
