70% of senior citizens didn't have healthcare access during Covid: Survey

Around 70 per cent of senior citizens did not have access to proper healthcare facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic while over 57 per cent faced mental health issues, according to a survey by Max group firm Antara. Launched in 2013, Antara is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Max India Limited, one of the three listed entities of the Max Group. It is an integrated service provider for all senior care needs, operating two main lines of businesses residences for seniors and assisted care services. The sample size of the survey was over 2,100 senior citizens aged 60 and above, Antara said in a statement on Saturday. The survey was conducted across urban India, with a focus on the North (Delhi-NCR & Jaipur), the West (Mumbai & Pune), and the South (Bengaluru & Hyderabad). The research was conducted in collaboration with Aeon Insights Market Research, over a period of two-and-a-half months from March to May end. "During COVID, 70% seniors didn't have access to proper healthcare .

Chhattisgarh sees 296 Covid-19 cases, no death; active tally rises to 1,363

Chhattisgarh on Friday reported 296 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 2.42 per cent, taking the tally to 11,55,791, while the death toll remained unchanged at 14,040, an official said. Durg led with 60 cases, followed by 53 in Raipur, 26 in Rajnandgaon, 22 in Bilaspur, 19 in Bemetara, 15 in Korba and 13 in Balodabazar, he said, adding that no coronavirus case was reported in five districts. So far, 11,40,388 persons have recovered from the infection, including 136 during the day, leaving the state with an active caseload of 1,363, the official said. With 12,230 samples examined during the day, the overall number of tests carried out so far went up to 1,79,92,016, he added. Chhattisgarh's coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 11,55,791, new cases 296, death toll 14,040, recovered 11,40,388, active cases 1,363, today tests 12,230, total tests 1,79,92,016.

Aurangabad reports 69 Covid-19 cases, no death; active tally now 359

Aurangabad in Maharashtra on Friday reported 69 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 1,70,508, while the death toll remained unchanged at 3,736, a health official said. Of the new cases, 40 are from the city and 29 are from rural areas of the district, he added. The active caseload of the district is 359, of which 333 are in home isolation, the official informed. The recovery count increased by 19 during the day to touch 1,66,413, he said.
