Maharaj's 5-33 Sparks 98-Run Win for South Africa over Australia

Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj dismantled Australia with a career-best 5-33 as South Africa romped to a 98-run victory in the first one-day international on Tuesday. Maharaj made full use of spin-friendly conditions to help dismiss Australia for 198 with more than nine overs to spare after South Africa had earlier posted 296-8 -- the highest ODI total at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns. Australia captain Mitchell Marsh made 88 off 96 balls and Ben Dwarshuis scored 33, but Maharaj had done enough damage in his unchanged spell of 10 overs to give the Proteas a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Travis Head (27) gave Australia an explosive start of 60-0 in the first seven overs when the left-hander smashed fast bowler Nandre Burger for five boundaries in one over. But in a dramatic turnaround, the home team lost six wickets five to Maharaj for the addition of only 29 runs as Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma turned to his slow bowlers inside the batting power play. Australia went from 60-0

DPL: New Delhi Tigers Crush North Delhi Strikers with 8-wicket win

New Delhi Tigers produced a scintillating all-round performance to register a comprehensive 8-wicket victory over North Delhi Strikers in their Delhi Premier League (DPL). Batting first, the Strikers struggled right from the start as they lost wickets in quick succession, slipping to 54/6 inside 12 overs. But Vaibhav Kandpal and Arjun Rapria came to the rescue with a fighting 58-run stand for the seventh wicket. Rapria's innings of 29 (24) kept the scoreboard ticking, while Kandpal played a spirited knock of 45 (32), but their efforts only managed to take the side to 124/9 in 20 overs. For the Tigers, Yashjeet was the star of the show, delivering a dream spell of 4/15 in his four overs. He was ably supported by Pankaj Jaswal (2/28) and Pradyuman Sanan (2/22), who kept the pressure on from both ends. Chasing 125, the Tigers had a shaky start as Shivam Gupta fell on the very first ball of the innings, dismissed by skipper Harshit Rana. However, the setback didn't deter them as skip

USA cricket team qualify for U19 Men's Cricket World Cup next year

The United States team, led by wicketkeeper-batter Arjun Mahesh, has become the 16th and final side to secure a place in the U19 Men's Cricket World Cup, to be jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia next year. The team locked their spot in the global event with a game in hand by emphatically beating Canada, Bermuda and Argentina in the double round-robin Qualifier played in Rydal, Georgia. USA set the tone with a 65-run win over Canada, followed by big victories against Bermuda and Argentina putting them in the driver's seat at the halfway stage of the competition. Their bowlers then came up with some more dominating performances to beat Bermuda and Argentina in the return leg to garner 10 points, which was enough to seal them the World Cup berth. Top-order batter Amrinder Singh Gill scored 199 runs in three innings, while the spin-bowling duo of Ansh Rai and Sahir Bhatia grabbed seven scalps each. USA will play their last game against Canada later on Saturday. The top-10 teams fr
