A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) met Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Sunday over the water crisis in the national capital and said they were assured that the matter would be taken up with the Haryana government. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP MP Sanjay Singh and AAP MLA Somnath Bharti were among the 10-member delegation that met Saxena. "The monsoon is expected around June 28. The rains have already started in Shimla and Himachal Pradesh. It is a matter of one week. We have requested him to get Delhi water for this one week," Bharadwaj told reporters after the meeting. Bharadwaj said Saxena has assured them of talking to the Haryana government regarding the matter.
Haryana Finance Minister Jai Prakash Dalal on Saturday sought special grant assistance from the Centre for the implementation of various projects in the national capital region (NCR). Dalal raised this issue during a meeting of finance ministers of all states that was chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi. In the meeting, Dalal mentioned that the Haryana government has developed the KundliManesarPalwal (KMP) expressway around Delhi to reduce congestion in the NCR region. "Work is also underway on the major project of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, a 122-km long project from Palwal to Sonipat with a revised estimated cost of Rs 11,600 crore," according to an official release. CNG price in the national capital and adjoining cities was on Saturday hiked by Re 1/kg on the back of reduction in domestic gas supplies. CNG price was hiked from Rs 74.09 to Rs 75.09 per kg, while in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad the rate went up from Rs 78.70 to Rs 79.70 per kg, according to information posted by IGL on its website. Other city gas suppliers have not changed the prices yet.

After bomb threats over email to schools, hospitals and other establishments in the national capital, the Delhi Police has planned to expand its bomb detection, disposal and dog squads in each of its district for swift action, official sources said. There are five bomb disposal squads, 18 bomb detection teams and one dog squad with 70 canines for Delhi's 15 police districts. All three units are under the Crime Branch. In the past two months, there have been at least seven instances of hospitals, schools, colleges, museums, railway establishments, prisons and government offices getting bomb threats via email that were sent using virtual private networks (VPN) or proxy servers. The threats were later found to be hoaxes and are being investigated by the Special Cell. The sources said whenever such a threat is received, the entire machinery of the administration is tasked with sweeping the premises. The Delhi High Court on Friday granted interim stay on the trial court's order giving bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise scam. The high court also issued notice to Kejriwal seeking his response on ED's plea challenging the trial court's June 20 order by which he was granted bail. "Till the pronouncement of this order, the operation of the impugned order shall remain stayed," a vacation bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain said. The court said it was reserving the order for 2-3 days as it wanted to go through the entire records. Earlier in the day, the division bench said the trial court order shall not be given effect to till the high court hears the matter.
Delhi Congress workers on Friday held a demonstration near the BJP headquarters here over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examinations. The demonstration was led by Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav. The medical entrance examination, National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET-UG, was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5 with around 24 lakh candidates taking part. The results were announced on June 4. There have been allegations of question paper leaks in states such as Bihar and other irregularities in the exam. The allegations have led to protests in several cities and the filing of petitions in several high courts as well as the Supreme Court.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi will begin her indefinite hunger strike in south Delhi's Bhogal at noon to press on her demand for getting 100 million gallons of water per day from Haryana. In a post on X, the minister said despite all efforts, the Haryana government was not releasing the full share of Delhi's water. Before starting the indefinite fast, Atishi will visit Rajghat at 11 am to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi who taught that the path of 'Satyagraha' has to be adopted to struggle against injustice, the minister said. The national capital has recorded at least 45 deaths due to suspected heat-related illnesses at Ram Manohar Lohia, Safdarjung and LNJP hospitals here, officials said on Thursday. Delhi has been battling searing heatwave conditions over the last few days. It got some relief on Thursday morning due to light rain. Hospitals in the city have seen a rise in the number of casualties and patients owing to heat stroke. Dr Ajay Chauhan, Professor of Medicine at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, said that between May 27 and 9 am of June 19, the Centre-run hospital got 47 cases of heatstroke. In the next 24 hours, 26 heatstroke patients were brought to the hospital, the doctor said. He also said that between May 27 and 9 am of June 19, the hospital recorded 11 suspected deaths of heatstroke and in the next 24 hours seven such suspected deaths were reported. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Thursday said of the 14 heat stroke patients who died here, almost all had comorbidities which exacerbated their condition. Bharadwaj inspected Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital, where he evaluated the treatment facilities and interacted with heat stroke patients. He also interacted with doctors, stressing the importance of preventive measures against heat-related illnesses and directed them to ensure the availability of all necessary amenities. "According to the information I received, about 310 heat stroke patients were admitted to the hospital in the recent past, out of which 112 patients have recovered and returned to their homes," the health minister said during the inspection, in a statement. "Of the 14 heat stroke patients who died, almost all of them already had some serious diseases like cancer or kidney disease, due to which their condition worsened and they died," he added.
