The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has identified 158 sites across the city for dumping construction and demolition (C&D) waste, as part of its vision to make the city free of such trash, Mayor Shelly Oberoi said on Saturday. Out of these 158 points, 125 of them have been made in and around civic wards, according to a statement issued by the mayor's office. The MCD has five C&D (construction and demolition) waste processing plants at Burari, Rani Khera, Shastri Park, Bakkarwala and Okhla. Their daily capacity is 5,500 tonnes and about 1.5 lag tonne monthly capacity. In one year, these plants can process 18 lakh tonnes of C&D waste, Oberoi said in the statement. The MCD has identified 158 sites across the city (its 12 zones) for dumping construction and demolition waste, Oberoi said. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will announce the winter action plan on October 1 to check pollution in the capital, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Thursday. Addressing a press conference after holding a meeting with 28 departments, Rai said that 13 hotspots have been identified in Delhi and a special plan will be made for them. "We held a meeting with 28 departments today and all have been directed to give their winter actions plans by September 25. The Enforcement Directorate has summoned BRS leader and the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, K Kavitha, at its Delhi office on Friday for questioning in connection with the excise policy case in the national capital, officials said. Kavitha was questioned several times at the ED headquarters in March and had to submit her mobile phones to the federal agency. It is alleged that the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 to grant licences to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers who had paid bribes for it, a charge strongly refuted by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the national capital. In an order on July 24, the Supreme Court had modified its previous order to pave way for the registration of all BS VI-compliant diesel vehicles in Delhi, irrespective of their requirement for the G20 summit. Citing the judgement of the apex court, an order issued by the Delhi Transport Department said, "... the competent authority is pleased to allow the registration of all BS VI compliant Diesel vehicles in GNCT of Delhi for Inter-State Stage Carriage, All India Tourist Permit (AITP) holders having capacity of more than 7+1 persons, coaches, buses." The Delhi government has set targets for its departments and agencies, including opening more mohalla clinics for women and new classrooms in schools, in the current fiscal, according to an Outcome Budget document. The Planning Department on Tuesday shared the Outcome Budget document detailing targets achieved in 2021-22 and 2022-23 as well as the targets set for 2023-24. It detailed the targets and budget allocations for various schemes and programmes of the 22 departments and agencies in 2023-24. The Delhi government has mapped 248 schemes and listed various outcome and output indicators on which performance will be assessed at the end of the financial year. This will be then be presented in the assembly as the Outcome Budget. Over 100 toilets have been built for exclusive use by transgender people in the national capital, the city authorities informed the Delhi High Court on Monday. The counsel for the social welfare department told a bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma that a total of 102 such toilets have been built and 194 more are under construction. "Efforts are being made and further action will be taken expeditiously," the counsel told the court. The counsel for the New Delhi Municipal Council (MDMC), which functions under the union ministry of home affairs, informed the bench that 12 toilets for transgender people are operational in the area under its jurisdiction and tenders for construction of 79 more have been awarded. The area is commonly referred to as Lutyens' Delhi.
