250 exhibitors to showcase solutions at Delhi Machine Tool Expo next week

Over 250 exhibitors are expected to participate and display their technology solutions at Delhi Machine Tool Expo (DMTX 2023) to be held here next week, according to a statement. The fourth edition of the Delhi Machine Tool Expo (DMTX 2023) organised by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA), will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from August 24-27, 2023, the statement said. Both Indian and foreign exhibitors are expected to participate and connect with more than 15,000 visitors that are expected to attend the expo. "The previous edition of the show held in Pragati Maidan in 2017 had evoked a good response from the manufacturing industry. Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Friday inaugurated a 23-acre sports complex at Dwarka and called it a "beautiful gift for the people of Delhi" from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interacting with reporters, Saxena said Delhi which was "neglected for a long time", is now being decked up, not just for the G20 Summit, but for any such events in the future. The Dwarka Sports Complex in Sector-17 of the sub-city has been built by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) at a cost of Rs 92 crore, a DDA official said. Spread across 23.13 acres, the complex has several sports facilities and a yoga hall, he said. Delhi mayor flags off Terminator Train to check spread of mosquito breeding

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Friday flagged off a 'Terminator Train' that will spray larvicide along railway tracks here to check mosquito breeding. Nearly 350 dengue cases have been reported in Delhi this year till the first week of August. This is an annual exercise jointly taken by the Indian Railways and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Delhi's plan to reduce heat impact in three phases: No schools in afternoon

Delhi will alter school timings, suspend non-essential water use, provide uninterrupted power supply to health facilities and survey vulnerable locations daily to mitigate the impact of extreme heat on susceptible populations in peak summers, according to the city's new heat action plan. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), which prepared the plan and submitted it to the Centre last month, also plans a pilot project to paint roofs in identified areas with white colour to help keep the indoors cooler. Delhi Cong meets LG, seeks uniform circle rate for all agricultural lands

A delegation of Delhi Congress leaders Thursday met Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and demanded the implementation of a uniform circle rate for all agricultural lands in the national capital. Fire at plastic factory in Delhi's Bawana, 5 firefighters injured

Five firemen were injured following a blast at a plastic factory in north west Delhi's Bawana, officials said on Thursday. According to fire officials, the incident took place on Wednesday at 10.56 pm, and 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The factory is situated at Sector-5 in Bawana Industrial Area. A blast occurred in the factory due to which the wall and gate collapsed, and five firemen sustained injuries, they said. "Dharamveer, Ajeet, Narender, Jaiveer and Vikas sustained injuries in the incident. They were rushed to Maharshi Valmiki Hospital and later discharged," an official said.

On Wednesday, the airline announced that it would start services to Tashkent from September 22. A senior official on Thursday said the regulator has approved operations of IndiGo to Tashkent with effect from September 6. This means that the airline has been permitted to start services anytime from September 6 onwards. IndiGo will be operating four weekly non-stop flights between Delhi and Tashkent, which will be the airline's 31st international destination.

IndiGo to start flights from Delhi to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan next month

No-frills airline IndiGo on Wednesday announced the launch of its direct air services to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Central Asia from Delhi next month, subject to regulatory approval. The four times a week air services between Delhi and Tashkent in Uzbekistan will commence from September 22, while Almaty in Kazakhstan will be connected with Delhi from September 23 with three flights per week, IndiGo said. With the launch of flight services to these two new cities, IndiGo will be operating to a total of 111 destinations, including 32 in the international markets, the airline said. The introduction of this new route aims to improve India's connectivity to Kazakhstan, Central Asia's prominent financial centre, the airline said. Delhi L-G gives nod to creation of 37 extra posts in consumer commission

Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has approved the proposal for creating 37 additional posts of various categories in Delhi State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, Raj Niwas officials said on Wednesday. This will provide a major boost to consumer grievance redressal in the city, they said. The proposal for the creation of additional posts was mooted in June 2020, keeping in view the pendency of cases. As on March 1, 2020, the total number of cases pending for disposal in the State Commission was 7,760, which comprised 5,848 complaints that included execution applications and 1,912 appeals and revision petitions. This will provide a major fillip to transparency and speedy redressal of grievances of the common people, something that the LG has been pioneering ever since he took over in May last year, the official said. Light rain was recorded in parts of Delhi, including in the city's central and south, Ghaziabad and Noida on Tuesday, bringing respite from the hot and humid conditions. The national capital on Tuesday recorded a minimum temperature of 27.1 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The relative humidity was recorded at 85 per cent at 8.30 am and 68 per cent at 5.30 pm, the IMD said. The maximum temperature settled at 35.2 degrees Celsius. The city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 102 at 9 pm, according to Central Pollution Control Board data. Man in Delhi arrested for creating bomb hoax at Kashmere Gate metro station

A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly making a hoax call about a bomb planted at Kashmere Gate metro station, police said on Monday. Rahul Gupta, a native of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh, made the call in an inebriated state on Sunday, they said. At 8:22 pm on Sunday, Kashmere Gate metro police station received a call from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) control room that a bomb had been planted at Kashmere Gate metro station, a senior police officer said. 10,000 personnel, anti-drone systems deployed in Delhi for Independence Day
