Fire breaks out at market in Maharashtra's Palghar
A few shops at a market located in Palghar area were gutted in a fire during early hours of Sunday.The shops, located in Jadhav Market, were engulfed in flames, however, the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.Fire tenders were rushed to the spot in Nala Sopara area soon after the fire broke out.No causalities have been reported, so far. Firefighters are at the spot conducting cooling operations.Further details are awaited.

Russia: 82 injured in blast at TNT factory
At least 82 people sustained injuries in a series of explosions and a consequent fire at a TNT production plant located in the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk on Saturday.The incident took place at around 11:45 am (local time) at the "Kristall" explosive factory in Dzerzhinsk, about 400 km east of Moscow, in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, reported TASS news agency.The Russian Health Ministry said that 15 people were hospitalised, while 67 others are seeking treatment at outpatient clinics. One person is in serious condition.The Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed that the blasts were industrial. The accident is being investigated as a violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous production facilities.This is a third such explosion at a TNT factory in Russia in past one year.Further details are awaited.
Captain charged over Budapest boat tragedy
The captain of a river cruise ship that collided with a smaller sightseeing vessel was charged Saturday over the accident in Budapest that killed seven South Korean tourists and left 21 missing. The Mermaid carrying mainly South Korean tourists overturned and sank late Wednesday, seconds after colliding with the Viking Sigyn cruise ship on a busy stretch of the Danube in the heart of Budapest. Strong currents have hampered the search for those missing -- 19 South Koreans and two Hungarians -- preventing divers from reaching the submerged boat. The Sigyn's Ukrainian captain was charged Saturday, a Budapest court official told AFP, but gave no further details. The 64-year-old was detained Thursday for questioning for "endangering waterborne traffic resulting in multiple deaths", police have said. Himachal: Trekker from UP dies after being hit by falling rocks
A woman trekker from Uttar Pradesh died after being hit by falling stones, during a trekking expedition in Kullu district of the state.The incident occurred while the woman, identified as Anisha Kapoor, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district, was on a trek from Kheer Ganga to Barshaini.Due to heavy thunderstorm and bad weather conditions, pieces of stone fell on her near Barshaini and she was declared dead by Community Health Centre, said Kullu police.Two trekkers accompanying Kapoor were also injured in the incident and were admitted to hospital, where they are said to be stable now.
Italy's Mount Etna sparks into life
Mount Etna in southern Italy has burst into life, spitting molten lava high into the sky, though cloud cover Saturday ruined the view for those brave enough to venture up the flanks of Europe's highest volcano. The National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV) said there was "lively spattering" as fire and hot ash spewed high into the sky in an eruption which began Thursday and had slowed slightly by Saturday but still posed a risk to climbers. The lava came from two eruptive fissures on the northeastern and south-southeastern sides of the New Southeast Crater. The volcano on the island of Sicily previously erupted in December. The latest lava show was not expected to pose any problems for nearby residential areas or for flights at the closest airport at Catania.
Fire in 4-storey building in Noida
A fire ripped through a four-storey building at a local market in a village here Saturday night, officials said. No loss of life was reported in the incident, a police official said. The incident was reported from Sharma market in Hoshiarpur in Sector 51 around 10.30 pm after which police officials and personnel of the Fire Department were rushed to the spot, the officials said. Around half a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused a little before midnight, the police official said. The cause of the fire and loss to material can be confirmed after probe, the official said. On Friday, 10 vehicles, including two cars and eight two-wheelers, were gutted in a fire that broke out in a transformer in the industrial hub of Sector 63 here, according to officials.
Car catches fire outside Model Town metro station, entry closed briefly
Entry to a station on the busy Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro was Saturday briefly closed after a car caught fire outside its premises, officials said. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted about the incident around 8.20 pm. "Entry to Model Town metro station will be closed temporarily due to smoke from a car which has caught fire outside. We regret the inconvenience," the DMRC tweeted. According to a senior official, the car went up in flames in front of the metro station's building. However, it could not be immediately confirmed if the car was moving or stationary. "Entry to Model Town metro station was later opened," he said. The Yellow Line connects Samaypur Badli to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon.
30 down with jaundice in south Kolkata pocket
Nearly 30 people residing in the city's Ganguly Bagan area have been diagnosed with jaundice in the last few weeks, a senior Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) official said on Saturday. Several residents of the locality in south Kolkata's Baghajatin area had to be hospitalised after they were tested positive for jaundice, the official said. To determine the cause of the "outbreak" of the disease, civic body officials have collected water samples from at least 52 different places of Ganguly Bagan and its vicinity, he said. "We are expecting the sample report by Monday," the official said. Meanwhile, residents of the area have been asked to be cautious about the quality of water they consume.
Tremors rattle southeast Albania, injuring 4, damaging homes
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 struck rural areas in Albania early Saturday southeast of Tirana, the capital, injuring four people and damaging about 100 houses, authorities said. The Defence Ministry reported that four people were injured from falling walls at their homes and about 100 houses, many uninhabited, were damaged. The injured were sent to a local hospital. Albania's Institute of GeoSciences, Energy, Water and Environment says the quake occurred at 6:26 am Saturday and affected the Korca district, 180 kilometers (110 miles) southeast of Tirana. Cyclone Fani: About 48 pc of people still without power in
About 48 per cent of the electricity consumers in Puri district are yet to get back their power connection even though 28-days have passed after the extremely severe cyclone 'Fani' made a landfall near Puri town on May 3, officials said Saturday. This was revealed at a meeting when the new Revenue and Disaster Management minister Sudam Marandi took stock of the restoration work in the cyclone affected districts. The minister stressed on repair and restoration of primary school buildings damaged in to cyclone before reopening of schools after summer vacation. Fire breaks out at NDMC building in Delhi
A fire broke out on the second floor of the NDMC building in Connaught Place here on Saturday, the Delhi Fire Service said. No injury or casualty was reported, an official said. The fire department received a call about the blaze at 6.36 pm and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, the official added. The fire was brought under control by 7.15 pm, the official said.

A 5.3-magnitude quake in southeast Albania Saturday injured four people and damaged houses, local officials said. Media reports said four people were hurt in Floq, 15 kilometres southeast of the city of Korca, which lies 180 kilometres southeast of the capital Tirana.
