Star batter Virat Kohli was on Monday fined half of his match fees for showing dissent towards umpire's decision during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Kohli was given out after the he was caught off a waist-height full-toss delivery Harshit Rana during RCB's one-run loss to KKR at the Eden Garden's on Sunday. The Hawk-Eye system that measures no-balls for height came into play. The delivery, which seemed to be dipping on the batter, was just above the waist when he made contact with the ball. The star batter, who made 18 off seven balls, was standing just outside the crease at that moment. TV umpire Michael Gough checked for the height and as per the Hawk-Eye tracking, the ball would have passed Kohli's waist at a height of 0.92 meter had he was standing and upright at the crease. Kohli left the field an agitated man after having an animated discussion with the on-field umpire. The frustrated Kohli knocked the waste-bin located near away t
Axar Patel believes that his batting position has been affected by 'Impact Player' rule while Mukesh Kumar wants it abolished if there isn't some meaningful alternate help for the bowlers but Sourav Ganguly thinks that in a 12-a-side game, only the best all-rounders will survive. With Rohit Sharma making it clear that he is not a big fan of 'Impact Player' which is a glorified 12-a-side contests which hampers the growth of Indian all-rounders, more and more top national team players are expressing their displeasure. The 'Impact Player' rule, introduced in 2023, allows all IPL teams to substitute a player -- batter or bowler -- during their respective innings as per the demands of the match, but it has raised eyebrows in the ongoing season. Axar, who sees himself as an all-rounder admitted that because of the rule, his batting position has been affected. "Whosoever is making the rules, they are thinking that everything will work as per batter's convenience. Obviously, it has been ..
Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League due to a hamstring injury, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting confirmed on Monday. Marsh has featured in only four out of DC's eight matches this season so far, scoring 61 runs at a strike rate of 160.52 besides bagging a wicket in three innings. Marsh had already flown back home on April 12 to get a consultation with Cricket Australia's medical team and is currently recuperating in Perth. With the 32-year-old expected to lead Australia in the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States in June, the pull out from IPL makes sense. "I don't think he'll be coming back. There's a certain cut-off point with replacement players. Cricket Australia were keen to have him at home to start his recovery process, and we sent him back as soon as we could," Ponting said here during DC's media day. "They've been managing his rehab for a couple of weeks now. I spoke to him the other day, an
Having relinquished his captaincy duties at Chennai Super Kings, talismanic Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in an incredible space at the moment and will continue to "evolve", feels batting coach Mike Hussey. In what appears to be his last season in the IPL, Dhoni has been in explosive form in the ongoing season and is striking at a rate of 255.88, taking his game to a new level. "He's just in a wonderful place in his career. He's at a place where he's comfortable, he's happy, enjoying his cricket," Hussey said ahead of CSK's home match against Lucknow Super Giants here on Tuesday. "He's practiced and prepared really well coming into the tournament. Of course bowlers are coming up with different plans against him because he's probably the greatest finisher of all time." The 48-year-old Australian acknowledged that Dhoni would keep improving and make it tougher for bowlers, even at the fag end of his career. "They (bowlers) need to come up with different ideas. So that's one of the wonderf

Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody feels Mumbai Indians did not use pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah optimally during the IPL clash against Punjab Kings which allowed them to fight back from a difficult position and come within touching distance of MI's total. Bumrah was matchless in the game in Mullanpur on Thursday, taking the wickets of opener Sam Curran, Rilee Rossouw and the dangerous Shashank Singh to help MI win by nine runs. MI had set PBKS a target of 193. The India mainstay bagged two wickets in the second over, dismissing Curran and Rossouw, but just when PBKS looked down and out, he was taken out of the attack, allowing the home team to claw back. "Again, Mumbai leaning on him so much to turn their fortunes around. He bowled two overs early on and had the Punjab Kings on their back. But, interestingly enough, he didn't bowl another over until the 13th," said the former Australian cricketer on Star Sports Cricket Live. "He's at the peak of his powers at the moment. And
