Police in Las Vegas have released security video they say shows a woman shoving a 74-year-old man off a public bus after witnesses say he asked her to be nice to other passengers. The video shows Serge Fournier landing face-first on a sidewalk east of downtown on March 21. He died April 23. The Clark County coroner ruled Fournier's death a homicide resulting from his injuries. Authorities arrested 25-year-old Cadesha Michelle Bishop on May 6. She has been charged with murder and remains jailed on $100,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing of evidence May 21. Public defense attorney Charles Cano, who represents Bishop, didn't immediately respond Wednesday to messages. A department statement says investigators still seek witnesses to the March 21 incident.

Justice (retired) Madan B Lokur has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Fiji as a judge of its non-resident panel, according to sources. Justice Lokur, who demitted office as a Supreme Court justice on December 31 2018, has been appointed in the new role for a period of three years. The sources close to the former judge said that he received the offer from the Chief Justice of the Fiji Supreme Court on the day of his superannuation. The judge will join in his new role on August 15 this year, they said.
Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport have seized 24-carat gold valued at Rs 34.75 lakh on Tuesday, according to an official statement.The weight of the confiscated gold is 1052.90 grams. "The Customs officials at Mangaluru International airport seized foreign origin gold 24KT weighing 1052.90 gms net and valued 34.75 lacs. It was concealed as 2 mercury coated ingots in the motor of Nikai brand mixer in check-in luggage, which arrived from Dubai by SpiceJet flight," Customs Department said in a statement. No information has been revealed regarding any arrest in the case or the identity of the luggage's owner.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
At least 15 persons, including a senior official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), were arrested following a raid on a dance bar in Colaba at South Mumbai early on Wednesday, police said. The raid was conducted at the Platinum Bar and Restaurant by a special team of additional commissioner of police South region, comprising local police around 12.30 am, an official said. "During the raid, police arrested nine members of the hotel management staff and six customers, which includes an officer rank of deputy municipal commissioner," he said. A businessman, a government official and some high profile persons were among those arrested, he said, adding that the female staff of the bar was let off. The action was taken under different IPC sections and the Maharashtra Hotels Establishment Act, he said. All the accused were produced before the court, which released them on bail, he said.
Six persons of a minority community, including a maulvi of a local mosque, were booked on the charges of rioting and assault following a minor communal flare-up in the town on Wednesday, police said. The incident took place in a locality near Union School when a local shopkeeper, Pokhraj Soni, had an argument with the maulvi of a nearby mosque after the latter's scooter hit a pipe, which Soni had installed to drain water from the terrace of his shop. According to police inspector, N K Goswami, people from both the sides engaged in stone-pelting after a heated verbal spat between Soni and the maulvi, who is yet to be identified. "Soni's shop is close to the mosque. Soni confronted the maulvi when the drainage pipe broke after being hit by the scooter. People from both the sides came against each other. Three kilograms of gold worth Rs one crore have been seized from six passengers, including five women, who arrived here from Colombo, customs officials said Wednesday. The five, who were part of a nine member group, were intercepted Tuesday after their movements aroused the suspicion of the officials, an official release said. A physical examination of a 38-year-old man, the head of the group, revealed gold concealed in his rectum, it said. A search of five women in the group also revealed that they had hidden the yellow metal in a similar manner, the release said. A total of 25 bundles, wrapped in red adhesive tape, were recovered from them. Among the items seized were gold rings and chains, the release said.
A man, who was caught in a compromising position with a woman by her husband, allegedly jumped off the fifth floor of a building in South Delhi's Tigri area and died, police said Wednesday. Pankaj, a resident of JJ Colony in the area, was in an illicit relationship with the woman. He had come to meet her but the woman's husband returned to the residence unexpectedly at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday and they were caught by him in a compromising position, police said. Three persons, including two children, were arrested for allegedly assaulting a state-level rowing champion in Nashik, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place near Chopda Lawns in Nashik city on Tuesday night, when Nikhil Sonawane, a state-evel rower was returning home on a bicycle with his friend, an official said. "The three attackers stopped his bicycle on the pretext of seeking tobacco from him. Thereafter, the trio started thrashing him," he said. One of the accused attacked Sonawane with a sickle, in which he sustained serious injuries, the official said. After the attack, the attackers fled from the spot. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is undergoing treatment and is out of danger now, the official said. A police spokesperson said it was noticed that certain "social media reporters" had violated legal provisions about non-disclosure of a rape victim's name. "In this regard, the Principal Juvenile Justice Board, (CJM) Ganderbal, has taken cognisance of the matter and passed directions to police for taking legal action against such social media reporters," the spokesperson said. Two notorious criminals were arrested in connection with a murder case, police said Wednesday. Based on a tip-off, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Sandeep Ahlawat (36), who is a life convict in a kidnapping case, and Varun (30) on May 13. Police said the duo was involved in a murder case of Dharuhera, a resident of Haryana. On February 19, Sandeep had managed to escape from custody at the Maulana Azad Medical College Hospital with the help of his associates. The wife and daughter of the main accused in the killing of a businessman in Moti Nagar area in West Delhi for objecting to lewd comments passed on his daughter were arrested Wednesday, police said. The 52-year-old businessman was stabbed to death with a knife when he was returning home with his daughter early Sunday. The Maharashtra government Wednesday appointed senior IPS officer Deven Bharti as the chief of the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the state.
