Don't interfere in Manipur's internal affairs: Biren tells Mizoram CM

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has asked his Mizoram counterpart Lalduhoma not to interfere in the internal affairs of the state. Singh said while neighbouring states can extend their support to resolve the ethnic strife in Manipur, he requested the Mizoram chief minister to refrain from commenting on the internal matters of another state. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme here on Tuesday, Singh said, "I have seen one comment from the newly appointed CM of Mizoram that the state police should not harrass his people at Moreh. Congress holds Assembly election review meet for Rajasthan, Mizoram

Top Congress leadership on Saturday held separate meetings to review the party's performance in the assembly polls in Rajasthan and Mizoram. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge convened the review meeting at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in Delhi where former party chief Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders were also present. While the review meeting for Mizoram was held earlier, the leaders from Rajasthan including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other senior leaders attended the review met for Rajasthan. AICC in-charge for Mizoram Bhakt Charan Das later said, "We discussed every aspect of the Mizoram election, including the organizational structure of the state at the grassroots level and state level, as well as the various events that occurred during the elections." "We also deliberated on our future plans. All these matters were carefully and intensively discussed," he said.

Mizoram assembly session from Tue for oath taking by MLAs, speaker election

Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday summoned an assembly session for three days which will commence on December 12, a senior official said. Pro-tem Speaker Lalfamkima will preside over the first day of the session and administer oath to the members. The election of the new speaker will also be held on that day, the official said. Lalfamkima, who was elected from the Kolasib constituency, was sworn in as the Pro-tem Speaker on Friday. Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma was also sworn in as the chief minister of Mizoram on Friday. Eleven other ministers also took oath at Raj Bhavan here. With a 40-member assembly, Mizoram can have 12 ministers, including the chief minister. The ZPM, which was registered as a political party only in 2019, emerged victorious in the assembly elections bagging 27 seats, increasing its tally from 8 in the 2018 polls. It dethroned the Mizo National Front (MNF) headed by outgoing chief minister Zoramthanga.

Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma was sworn in as the chief minister of Mizoram on Friday. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lalduhoma. Eleven other ZPM leaders will also take oath as ministers. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan where Mizo National Front leader and outgoing chief minister Zoramthanga was present. All MNF MLAs, including its legislature party leader Lalchhandama Ralte, attended the event. Former chief minister Lal Thanhawla was also present there. Zoram People's Movement leader Lalduhoma will take oath as the Mizoram chief minister on Friday, Raj Bhavan sources said. Lalduhoma called on Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday to stake a claim to form the government. "Lalduhoma will be sworn in as the chief minister on Friday at a function to be held at Raj Bhavan at 11 am," the sources said. ZPM emerged victorious in the assembly polls on Monday, bagging 27 of the total 40 seats. Lalduhoma, an ex-IPS officer who had served as the security in charge of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, held a meeting with the newly elected party candidates on Tuesday evening and discussed about formation of the council of ministers and distribution of portfolios, a party leader said. Mizoram: Zoramthanga resigns as MNF president after party's poll debacle
