L&T Realty to develop three projects worth Rs 8,000 cr in Mumbai region

L&T Realty on Monday said it has signed agreements to jointly develop projects worth Rs 8,000 crore in Mumbai region as part of its expansion plan. L&T Realty is the real estate development arm of Larsen & Toubro. "The company has entered into a binding agreement to jointly develop projects in South Mumbai, Western Suburbs and Thane worth Rs 8,000 crore, with development potential of 4.4 million square feet," L&T Realty said in a statement. The company did not disclose the name of companies with whom it has signed agreements. L&T Realty said this is a part of the company's larger plan to strengthen its footprint in major metros by adding around 5 million square feet per year over the next five years. Mumbai sees 276 Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths; positivity rate now 2.59%

Mumbai on Sunday reported 276 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 2.59 per cent and two fatalities, taking the tally to 11,21,095 and the toll to 19,632, a civic official said. A day earlier, the metropolis had logged 365 cases and two deaths due to COVID-19, he said. Of the 376 new cases, only 24 were symptomatic, the official added. The recovery count rose by 397 to reach 10,99,163, which left the city with an active caseload of 2,300, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said. He said the overall number of coronavirus tests in the city stood at 1,76,98,650, including 10,656 in the last 24 hours, down from 11,442 in the preceding 24-hour period. Civic data revealed the recovery rate was 98 per cent and the overall growth rate of cases between July 10 and 16 was 0.03 per cent. It showed that the caseload doubling time in the metropolis now stood at 2,279 days.

Mumbai records 339 new coronavirus cases, 2 deaths; active tally at 2,805

Mumbai on Thursday recorded 339 fresh coronavirus cases, while two more patients succumbed to the infection, the city's civic body said. With these additions, the city's overall COVID-19 tally rose to 11,20,172, while the death toll increased to 19,627, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a health bulletin. On Wednesday, the metropolis recorded 383 positive cases and one coronavirus-linked fatality. Of the 339 new cases, 310 patients were asymptomatic, said the bulletin. Giving details about the two fresh fatalities, the BMC said one of them was an 83-year-old woman suffering from comorbidities, diabetes, hypertension and ischemic heart disease. The second was a 40-year-old woman with comorbidities, hypertension and malignancy. The bulletin said 538 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 10,97,740 and leaving the financial capital with an active caseload of 2,805. Mumbai records 383 Covid-19 cases, one death; active count at 3,006

Mumbai on Wednesday recorded 383 fresh coronavirus positive cases and one fatality, the city civic body said. With the addition of these cases, the city's overall infection tally rose to 11,19,833 and toll to 19,625. On Tuesday, the city had recorded 420 cases and no fatality, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a bulletin. The active caseload of the metropolis stands at 3,006. It said that 694 people recuperated in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recovery count to 10,97,202. Its recovery rate stood at 98 per cent. A total of 11,418 tests were conducted in the city in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative test count to 1,76,55,861. Mumbai's COVID-19 case doubling rate stood at 1,645 days, while the growth rate from June 6 to July 12 was 0.041 per cent, the health department said.

Nitin Gadkari says planning electric highway between Delhi, Mumbai

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said the government is planning to construct an electric highway between Delhi and Mumbai. He also urged heavy vehicle owners to use alternative fuels like ethanol, methanol and green hydrogen in order to curb pollution. Addressing an event organised by the Hydraulic Trailer Owners Association, the road transport and highways minister said the government is constructing tunnels worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore. "Our planning is to make electric highway from Delhi to Mumbai. Just like trolleybus, you can run trolleytrucks also," he said, without providing more details. A trolleybus is an electric bus that draws power from overhead wires. An electric highway generally refers to a road which supplies power to vehicles travelling on it, including through overhead power lines. Mumbai sees 235 new Covid cases, a 6-week low; no deaths for 3rd day in row

Mumbai on Monday reported 235 COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day rise after May 25, while the death toll remained unchanged in the metropolis for the third consecutive day. A day earlier, the city had recorded 399 cases, a civic official said. With the new additions, the COVID-19 tally in Mumbai stands at 11,19,030 and the death toll is 19,624 as of Monday. It is for the first time since June 8 that Mumbai has not seen deaths from the infection three days in a row, the official pointed out. The 235 cases added to the tally was the lowest after the 295 recorded on May 25, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added.
