In a fresh decision, the Rajasthan government on Monday decided to begin registration of FIR's at Superintendent of Police's office, in case of concerned police stations not registering the complaint.The decision came after a high-level meeting with officials was convened by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today. In the meeting, it was decided that an FIR can be lodged at SP's office if a police station refuses to register the same in connection with any case. This facility will be made available to the public from June 1.The CM has also directed that a departmental inquiry must be done in connection with all the cases where a police station refuses to register FIR.The action by the Chief Minister is being seen in the light of an increasing number of complaints regarding non-registration of FIRs at the police stations.The meeting was attended by state police Chief Kapil Garg, additional chief secretary, Rajiv Swaroop and other senior police officers.

After facing a drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has convened a meeting of opposition parties in Parliament on May 31 to discuss the possible reasons for their defeat, sources said on Wednesday. The opposition parties may also discuss their strategy for the Parliament session which is likely to begin from June 6. This will be the first meeting of opposition parties after the constitution of the 17th Lok Sabha. Issue of alleged discrepancies in EVMs and VVPAT machines may also feature in the discussions. A regional head of redBus was on Wednesday booked for violating a government order directing the online bus booking portal to de-list from its website some drop and pickup points on highways here, the Noida administration said. The administration said that from May 2 no vehicles are allowed to stop on the Noida-Greater Noida Highway, the Yamuna Expressway starting from the Mahamaya Flyover to pick up or drop passengers in order to avoid accidents on these stretches. "It was found that several travels and bus operators were plying illegally after getting passenger bookings through redBus portal. These buses would also show drop and pickup points at Zero Point on Mahamaya Flyover, at Pari Chowk, and various other spots in Greater Noida, which is illegal," City Magistrate Shailendra Mishra said. Advance warning about an impending terror attack in Sri Lanka was "never a main point for discussion" during national intelligence coordination meetings, a senior police official Wednesday told a parliamentary probe panel on the Easter Sunday bombings. A parliamentary select committee was appointed to probe the events leading to the April 21 attacks and any lapses by those responsible following reports that India had alerted the Sri Lankan defence establishment on the impending attacks.
