The US is deploying an aircraft carrier strike group and a bomber task force in the Middle East to send a "clear and unmistakable" message to Iran that any attack on American interests or its allies will be met with "unrelenting force", National Security Advisor John Bolton has warned. Bolton said on Sunday the decision to deploy the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the US Central Command region in the Middle East was in response to a number of "troubling and escalatory indications and warnings" from Iran. The deployment of the strike group and bomber task force comes after US President Donald Trump last month refused to give waivers to countries like India from buying oil from Iran, in an attempt to reduce Iran's oil exports to zero. Palestinians agree Gaza ceasefire: Hamas, Islamic Jihad sources

Palestinian leaders in Gaza agreed a ceasefire with Israel early Monday, three officials with knowledge of the talks said, after the most serious flare-up since a 2014 war. Egypt brokered an agreement to cease hostilities from 4:30 am (0130 GMT) local time, an official from the strip's Islamist rulers Hamas and another from its allied group Islamic Jihad said on condition of anonymity. An Egyptian official also confirmed the deal on condition of anonymity. An Israeli army spokeswoman had no comment.

End violence, work towards peace: Trump to Palestinians

Strongly condemning the rocket attacks against Israel by terrorist groups, US President Donald Trump on Sunday asked Palestinians to "end violence" and work towards peace. "Once again, Israel faces a barrage of deadly rocket attacks by terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad," Trump said in a tweet. "We support Israel 100 per cent in its defense of its citizens," he said. According to news reports, terrorist groups have fired about 600 rockets towards Israel. In response, Israel has launched about 250 air strikes against terrorist groups in the region. "To the Gazan people these terrorist acts against Israel will bring you nothing but more misery. Air raids hit three hospitals in Syria's Idlib: monitor

Air strikes by Syrian regime ally Russia on Sunday forced the closure of two hospitals and also damaged a third one in the jihadist-held Syrian province of Idlib, a war monitor said. It came as eight civilians were killed in bombardment by the regime and Russia across the northwestern province, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. Idlib and other adjacent territories of Syria held by jihadists have faced intensifying bombardment in the past month.
