Bellingham key for Real Madrid as it ended its losing streak vs Barcelona

The day after the first clasico of the season saw Real Madrid celebrating the end of its losing streak against Barcelona and hailing the return to form of Jude Bellingham. Bellingham had an assist and a goal as Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday to halt a four-game losing run against the Catalan rival. The England international showed all the signs he was near top form again after missing the first part of the season because of shoulder surgery. Bellingham has scored in consecutive matches, having found the net for the first time this season last Wednesday in the 1-0 win against Juventus in the Champions League. He has showed no signs of physical ailments and has been crucial in helping the team control the pace in midfield and attack. Bellingham underwent surgery in the summer and didn't play his first match until September when he came off the bench in a La Liga game against Espanyol. On Sunday, he made only his eighth appearance of the season. I feel very good, Bellingham said.

El Clasico: Who is available for Real Madrid vs Barcelona match today?

Raphinha will remain on Barcelona's injured list and left-back Jules Kound is doubtful for Sunday's clasico match, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is ready to play for Real Madrid. Kylian Mbapp scored twice in three minutes and teenager Franco Mastantuono made his scoring debut with Real Madrid in a 4-1 win at Levante in the Spanish league on Tuesday, a result that extended the club's winning start to the season. Vincius Jnior also scored for Madrid as it earned its sixth straight league victory this season. We played a very complete game," Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said. We need to keep this momentum. This is just the beginning and we want to keep competing well. Mbapp scored Madrid's third goal by converting a 64th-minute penalty kick Panenka style after he was fouled inside the area. The France international added the fourth in the 66th after getting past the goalkeeper and finding the open net. The goals were Mbapp's eighth and ninth in seven matches with Madrid this season. Mastantuono becomes youngest starter for Real Madrid in Champions League

Teenage forward Franco Mastantuono became the youngest player to start for Real Madrid in the Champions League, according to UEFA. At 18 years, 33 days old, Mastantuono started Tuesday in Madrid's league phase opener against Marseille at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The Argentine forward beat the mark set last year by Brazil striker Endrick, who was 18 years, 73 days old when he started for Madrid against Lille. Before that, Madrid's youngest Champions League starter from group stage to final had been Ral Gonzlez, who was 18 years, 78 days old when he played against Ajax in 1995. Mastantuono joined from Argentine club River Plate on a six-year deal. The club reportedly paid 45 million euros ($53 million) in the transfer. Real Madrid kick off Champions League with win, Mbappe on target twice

Kylian Mbapp converted two penalties and 10-man Real Madrid came back to beat visiting Marseille 2-1 on the opening night of the Champions League. The victory meant that 15-time champion Madrid became the first team in competition history since the rebranding in the early 1990s to reach 200 wins. And it gave former Madrid playing standout Xabi Alonso a victory in his Champions League debut as the club's coach. Timothy Weah put visiting Marseille ahead early on but Mbapp struck back from the penalty spot in the 29th and 81st. The first penalty came after a foul on Rodrygo and the second for a handball by a defender. Mbapp now has 50 goals in 64 matches with Madrid. We are happy that he keeps scoring goals and has been feeling more and more comfortable, Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde said of the France star. Our job is to make sure the ball gets to him and that he can have even more scoring opportunities than he is having now. Madrid captain Dani Carvajal was sent off in th

Real Madrid edge Mallorca after Vinicius heroics, Atletico stay winless

Vincius Jnior and Arda Gler scored back-to-back goals to help Real Madrid rally for a 2-1 win over Mallorca and make it three wins in as many games in the Spanish league. Xabi Alonso's team saw three newcomers make key plays in the victory at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Mallorca struck first when Vedat Muriqi muscled Dean Huijsen out of the way to reach a corner kick by Pablo Torre, redirecting the cross with the back of his shoulder past Thibaut Courtois in the 18th minute. The 20-year-old Huijsen played a part in leveling in the 37th. The new Madrid central defender headed a cross from a set piece across the goalmouth for Gler to smash home. Vincius only needed another minute to put Madrid in front after Mallorca lost the ball in midfield. The Brazil forward had room to romp forward before cutting back to his left foot and firing in his second goal of the campaign. Mallorca pressed for the equalizer in an open second half. Mbappe opens Real Madrid account with penalty in 1-0 win vs Osasuna

Kylian Mbapp got off to a scoring start in his second season with Real Madrid, leading the team to a 1-0 victory over Osasuna in their Spanish league opener Tuesday. Mbapp, the leading scorer in his debut with Madrid last season, converted a 51st-minute penalty kick to give the hosts the victory. The former Madrid player arrived before the Club World Cup to replace Carlo Ancelotti, who left to take the Brazil job. It was special to be back here as a coach, unforgettable, Alonso said. Hopefully it was the first of many victories celebrated here. Real Madrid coach lauds Mastantuono, shrugs off Messi pick as world's best

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has praised the maturity of teenager newcomer Franco Mastantuono and downplayed the player's choice of former Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi as the world's best player. The 18-year-old Mastantuono signed a six-year deal with Madrid and said during his introduction last week that he considers his countryman Messi the best in the world. It's logical for Messi to be his favorite player," Alonso said on Monday. "He's from Argentina and he's left-footed, so it's no surprise to me. Messi dueled with Cristiano Ronaldo for years when he played for Barcelona and Ronaldo also considered by many the best in the world played for Madrid. Now, Ronaldo is playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia while Messi is with Inter Miami in the United States. Madrid already reached a deal to sign Mastantuono but had to wait until the former River Plate player turned 18. The club reportedly paid 45 million euros ($52.5 million) in the transfer.
